The second most famous jazz violinist after Stephane Grappelli is Jean-Luc Ponty. However, his sound is very different from Grappelli's, and Ponty's style changed drastically, from modal jazz in his early period to jazz rock in his mid-period, and fusion in his later years. This DVD contains a live studio performance (56 minutes) in Hamburg that was broadcast on television during the 1972 European tour. This is a must-see video for jazz enthusiasts, with a superb performance that rivals the performance at Montreux in the same year, and super beautiful image quality that makes you forget the date! Ponty's work with modal jazz came to an end, and he went back to the United States to take on a new stage by joining the Zappa band and the Mahavishnu Orchestra.
