Carla Bley, a talented woman who was rapidly rising to prominence as a composer/arranger at the time, was the founder of the Jazz Composers Group, which together with her then partner Carla contributed greatly to the protection and liberalization of musicians from commercialism. The legendary group ``Jazz Realities'' consists of trumpeter Michael Mantler, who founded the ``Orchestra Association'', lone soprano player Steve Lacy, bassist Kent Carter of Lacey's connections, and drummer Aldo Romano. The rare April 1966 performance in Bremen, Germany, recorded for over an hour on an official high-quality sound board, is now available for the first time! The melancholy sound of Lacey's cool, hard, and transparent soprano, worthy of being called solitary, the intelligent rhythm combination of Carter and Romano, and Carla's unique composition/arrangement and piano...all of them are full of brilliance. This is a highly recommended item that will become your favorite listener and promises new discoveries no matter how many times you listen to it! The alternate version of the jacket with Marte Loring's illustration, which was impressive even on the official edition, is also quite nice! Live at Lila Eule Bremen,Germany April.2.1966 1.
