The official account of the festival, which recently released a full-length video of Elvis Costello's "NORTH SEA JAZZ FESTIVAL 2007" and caused a buzz, has now released a video of James Taylor's performance at the same festival in 2009. In fact, this video was already released four years ago, and the image quality itself was excellent at that time, but this time it is the latest HD release, and it boasts the ultimate quality that surpasses that. Not only that, the version from four years ago was rebroadcast by the Dutch public broadcasting station NPS, and it included the logo of the song and even the logo of the program "CULTURA 24", but this time there are no such unnecessary logos. This version is worthy of being called the definitive version in every sense. 2009 is often seen as a recent event, but now 15 years have passed. JT's appearance here is indeed younger than his recent performance in Japan. On the other hand, it is amusing to see that the "setlist board" unique to JT's live performances, which was also used in his Japan performances, is already in use at this point. At that time, JT was literally in the mode of the big hit of the cover album "COVERS" (4th place in the US), so in fact, Glen Campbell's cover "Wichita Lineman" from the same album was played here, giving a glimpse of the period. What's interesting about this live video is that the audience is captured in close-up from the beginning. The audience shown there are many fans who are overwhelmed by JT's gentle singing voice from the beginning of the live. It's a nice edit that captures the Rotterdam audience who are moved by JT's singing voice without any exaggeration. Therefore, there are calls for "You've Got A Friend" from the early stages of the live, but JT easily avoids such excitement, so it's no wonder. And Steve Gadd is on drums here, and it's a very wonderful live video in the sense that it shows that the stage composition and sound foundations of the previous Japan tour were already established in 2009. But above all, the image quality and the condition of the video without any unnecessary subtitles are amazing. This is the strongest version that could only be realized in 2024, the year of the 2009 festival appearance, which had already earned the name of a classic video!
