The recent death of the great bassist Jack Bruce, who revolutionized the world of rock and roll as a "singing bassist" together with Paul McCartney, came as a great shock to many rock fans, and left them feeling indescribably sad. At this time, we would like to present to you the best documentary footage to honor his achievements. This 60-minute program, produced by the BBC Scotland branch in the UK in 2012 and broadcast on the BBC2 channel, looks back on the life of Jack Bruce with beautiful editing. Although it was originally recorded in PAL format, you can rest assured that the picture quality is of the highest level even when converted to NTSC. The title is "THE MAN BEHIND THE BASS (which can be translated as the man who lived his life with the bass)." This is an excellent program that gives you an overview of Jack Bruce's career. It features live performances of his signature songs in the studio with his band, recorded specially for this program in 2012, and interviews with Jack Bruce himself, Ginger Baker, Eric Clapton, lyricist Pete Brown, Tom Robinson, Mark King (Level 42), Free (Red Hot Chili Peppers), and other younger bassists, to trace Jack Bruce's career and personality. There are no Japanese subtitles in the interviews, but it's strange because just watching them you can somehow see the image of Jack Bruce that they are talking about. There are also rare images inserted that will make Cream fans stand up in surprise. The first half is devoted to Cream, and the second half follows his solo career, but the end is also closed with Cream's reunion. It is also interesting to note that in Jack's interview scene, a Gibson Thunderbird bass that Jack has never played on an official stage is displayed behind him. In the performance scene, Jack plays the piano and performs the famous song Theme From An Imaginary Western with a string quartet, which is excellent and makes you feel the sadness of life. It is a dignified image of Jack, who has overcome a serious illness and a liver transplant, and continues to show his presence with dignity even as he approaches the final stage of his life.
