The J. Geils Band of 1971, riding the momentum of their shocking debut, swept across the US. Their iconic soundboard album is now available as a best master. This work features a "June 27, 1971 New York performance." It's a stereo soundboard recording from the legendary Fillmore East venue. 1971 was the year "The Morning After" was released, and tours also changed depending on the time of year. Let's start by exploring this album's position while taking a bird's-eye view of their activities at the time. 1970 January 8th - February 1st: US #1 (7 shows) April 5th - May 14th: US #2 (10 shows) June 5th + 6th: US #3 (2 shows) June 27th - August 22nd: US #4 (10 shows) September 18th + 19th: US #5 (2 shows) October 16th - November 6th: US #6 (5 shows) (November 16th "THE J. GEILS BAND" released) December 18th + 31st: US #7 (2 shows) 1971 January 1st: New York show January 22nd - July 10th: US #8 (66 shows) ←★Here★ August 3rd: Philadelphia show August 28th - October 11th: US #9 (12 shows) (October 16th "THE MORNING "AFTER" Release: October 16th - December 31st: North America (43 performances) This is the J. Geils Band from 1970/1971. Around their debut, they were semi-professional, performing mini-tours of around 10 shows, but in 1971, they underwent a dramatic transformation. They embarked on their first full-scale tour, "USA #8," which consisted of over 60 shows in about six months. This performance at Fillmore East was the 63rd concert at the end of that tour. This show was broadcast on local station "WNEW-FM" and has spawned numerous previously released releases. This is also a classic FM soundboard, but it's a top-of-the-line update recently released by core enthusiasts overseas. While it's a refined version of the best master, the sound is reminiscent of a "super-realistic live full-house" recording. While the sound quality is comparable to traditional official releases, this work is even more vivid, perhaps due to its origins as an FM broadcast. The raw, unedited live performance is scorching hot, and the mix is rough. The heat makes "LIVE FULL HOUSE" seem small. The highest-quality, updated soundboard captures the scorching heat of their debut era. This set is different from "LIVE FULL HOUSE," so let's compare and organize it. Debut! (8 songs): Sno-Cone (★) / Wait (★) / First I Look At The Purse / Homework / Pack Fair And Square / Cruisin' For A Love / Serves You Right To Suffer / Hard Drivin' Man Morning After (2 songs + α): Whammer Jammer / People - It Ain't What You Do (It's How You Do It) (★) *Note: "★" indicates songs not available on the traditional "LIVE FULL HOUSE" album. ...And so on. "People" may be an unfamiliar song title, but it's a 30-second improvisation that leads into "It Ain't What You Do (It's How You Do It)." The show is almost entirely dedicated to their debut album, "J. Geils Band." Eight of the 11 tracks are played, truly worthy of being called a "live first album." The thrill of having a masterpiece, explosively pumped with stage energy, poured into your brain is unparalleled. This is the ultimate update of the legendary soundboard, with the same value as "J. Geils Band." This is the very essence of this release. An absolute masterpiece that should have been an official release. A stereo soundboard recording of the "June 27, 1971 Fillmore East Concert." This is the ultimate update, crafted by international enthusiasts using the legendary FM broadcast soundboard to refine the best masters. While comparable in quality to the traditional "LIVE FULL HOUSE" album, it far surpasses it in vividness. This is a definite "live first album" featuring eight of the 11 tracks from their debut album. Fillmore East, New York, NY, USA, June 27, 1971, STEREO SBD WNEW-FM Broadcast 01.
