This is no longer something that can be talked about in one live show or one band. The extremely important "day of encounter" in Japanese music history has finally become a live album! The star of this historic night will be our IRON MAIDEN. The May 21st, 1981 performance at the Kosei Nenkin Hall in Tokyo, where he first appeared to Japanese fans with the two albums "IRON MAIDEN" and "KILLERS," is an ultra-high-quality audience master recorded by Miracle Man. I'll be revived here and now! Who exactly is IRON MAIDEN to us Japanese people? "Representative of N.W.O.B.H.M." or "Pride of the British Empire"...? An ultra item that points to an "answer" to the profound question that is an eternal proposition for metal heads is now released as a set! It was none other than THE BEATLES in 1966 that made Japan experience "British rock" for the first time. And it was LED ZEPPELIN in 1971 that introduced "genuine hard rock" to this area. Exactly 10 years after ZEPPELIN's first visit to Japan, a band that came from England three times brought new music to Japan. Its name is “IRON MAIDEN”. What they brought in 1981 was 100% pure, unadulterated new music, "HEAVY METAL." Speaking of ``bringing heavy metal to Japan,'' we can't forget pioneers such as JUDAS PRIEST in 1978-1979 and Ronnie BLACK SABBATH in 1980. However, they were a band that first established an era in hard rock, and even though they had evolved into heavy metal, at this point their music still had the flavor of good old British hard rock. I did. In comparison, IRON MAIDEN is a born metal band. IRON MAIDEN in 1981 was the first band to make their first appearance in Japan as if to proclaim a new generation, being nothing but heavy metal. In other words, for Japanese people, IRON MAIDEN was their first experience of "live heavy metal." May 21st, the performance recorded in this work at the Welfare Pension Hall in Tokyo, is the first day of Japan's first visit to Japan, and the anniversary of the introduction of metal to our country. I don't know how to describe this other than historical! However, even if it is a memorial or record, it is meaningless if it is not interesting to listen to. The true value of this day lies in the passionate music itself, which lives up to its historical title. This live has been known for many excellent recordings such as "TOKYO KILLERS" and "LIVING PURGATORY" on the Shades label. However, one of the tapers who cut out these live shows was that man. Yes, that's Miracle Man! He captured this moment that will go down in the history of Japanese Western music concerts from number 36 in row D on the first floor. Miracle Man's recordings around the same time are packed with famous masterpieces such as WHITESNAKE's "LIVEHUNTER", BLACK SABBATH's "EVIL MAN", WILD HORSES's "HEAVY RIDE" and OZZY OSBOURNE's "BLOODY DIARY". First of all, this work has an excellent recording that is comparable to those. From “The Ides Of March”, which marks the beginning of the live performance, the play on stage is recorded with a sense of stability like a line source, while the excitement and enthusiasm of the venue is also packaged with a juicy texture. The recording is so clear that you can listen to the band's performance directly while showing the enthusiastic audience as much as necessary in the background of the recording! Listening to the loud applause that erupts the moment the band appears at around 0:37 of "The Ides Of March," the listener can vividly relive the audience's premonition that "something is going to happen from here." Probably. And I want you to listen to the moment when “The Ides Of March” switches to “Wrathchild”, the moment when Steve Harris’ bass is spun. From the moment this single note was uttered, the Japanese truly began to experience metal! From this "Wrathchild", the early masterpieces such as "Sanctuary", "Twilight Zone", "Remember Tomorrow", and "Genghis Khan" will be released one after another without giving the fans and listeners at the venue a break. Steve's unique bass sound is based on his unwavering belief, the twin leads of Dave Murray and Adrian Smith create an exquisite harmony, and Clive Burr's drums that push forward without hesitation. In either case, it's more like a "playing performance" than a "performance." In particular, Paul Di'Anno's piercing yet heroic vocals are amazing, and even listening to them with today's ears, I'm overwhelmed by the way that Aramusha was ``beating the listeners'' as recalled by enthusiasts at the time. In the second half of the live show, there was no time to catch your breath, with the excitement of “Killers” shaking the venue, the dramatic impact of “Phantom Of The Opera,” and “Iron Maiden,” which was filled with the mysterious and shocking sound unique to Diano! The play at this point is rough compared to the worldwide appearance after Bruce Dickinson joined. But that's good. This is a performance filled with the ambition and aggressiveness of young MAIDEN, turning into a surging wave. Above all, the underground mood is N.W.O.B.H.M. and early IRON MAIDEN. The sound and play you can hear here, as well as the passionate atmosphere that surrounds the live show, is truly irresistible! The moment the London club atmosphere flowed from their hometown to Tokyo, the other side of the world! The 82 minutes of the recording rush through in the blink of an eye, from "Running Free" to "Drifter" and "Prowler", which explode at the climax of the live performance! And, in this super recording, even the intervals between songs are worth listening to. It's amazing how even the sound of the strings rubbing can be clearly captured with a little tuning. After the performance of “Twilight Zone,” listen carefully to the murmurs of “awesome” from the audience near the taper. This is a soulful murmur that witnessed a new generation of British metal. This work, which captures this "encounter" with Miracle Man sound, is so full of reality that even the overused word "realism" becomes drowsy! No matter how famous the official EP "MAIDEN JAPAN" is, I would say that it cannot even come close to this sense of reality and historical spectacle! The excitement of coming to Japan for the first time, and even the first day, is clearly higher than other live shows, and this will not fail to knock out any listener! IRON MAIDEN came to Japan for the second time in 1982 (you can enjoy it with "UNLEASH THE BEAST" released at the same time), and their relationship with Japan has been over 30 years since then. The live sound that you can hear when they first came to Japan in 1981 is definitely different from what they have heard since then. It is exactly a “only for this time” live and musical sound. THE BEATLES in 1966, LED ZEPPELIN in 1971, and IRON MAIDEN in 1981... A super documentary title that conveys the moment when the British Invasion, which literally happens once every 10 years, comes to the present day through vacuum-packed real sound. This 2-CD set presents a "monumental monument of sound" that all metal fans cannot avoid! We cannot afford to miss this impact! Live at Koseinenkin Kaikan, Tokyo, Japan 21st May 1981 TRULY AMAZING/PERFECT SOUND(from Original Masters) Disc 1 (55:04) 1. The Ides Of March 2. Wrathchild 3. Sanctuary 4. Twilight Zone 5.
