The definitive compilation of official rare takes is here! Iron Maiden is a band with very interesting rare takes, but there are so many that collecting them is difficult. Although there are official reissues and various compilations of the 80s takes, the "six-piece formation" since Bruce Dickinson returned is surprisingly troublesome. In addition to CD singles, there are various formats such as analog and DVD singles, secret tracks on best-of albums, promo CDs, and even participation in tribute albums. This work is a super-convenient album that completely covers such "studio recordings of the "six-piece formation" that were not included in the album. In addition, this work is also structured with a focus on "fun to listen to." Usually, rare compilations are in chronological order, but when there are a mixture of alternate versions, covers, and playful takes, it is difficult to listen to them according to your mood. Therefore, this work is a compilation of "serious alternate versions" on disc 1 and "session and playful songs" on disc 2. Now, let's introduce each disc. [Disc 1: ALTERNATES] This disc contains alternate versions of the songs on the album. It includes edited versions that are simply shortened, such as "Out Of The Silent Planet" and "Coming Home," but most of them are different mixes with different flavors. It's worth listening to right from the beginning. "Wrathchild '99" was released as a secret track on the promo CD and the American version of "ED HUNTER." It features new vocals over the original backing, and was the first recording made after his return to blues. The following "The Wicker Man (Radio Version)" is the greatest take! This take was only released on the promo CD and was not available on the general market, but it was frequently broadcast on the radio from the time. The main difference is the chorus, where the chorus "Your time will come" is accompanied by "Thy will be done" and "Don't turn, don't run!". This is very cool. Some people who bought "BRAVE NEW WORLD" at the time may have thought, "Huh, something is different from the radio version..." This is that take. Along with "The Wicker Man (Radio Edit)", a shortened version of this radio version, this was recorded from the official promo CD, not from an air check. After that, there were many other versions from official singles and EPs. Particularly interesting are the different mixes of songs featuring strings. The "Rock Mix" of "Blood Brothers" and "The Nomad" is a solid version with modest strings, while the "Orchestral Version" of "Blood Brothers", "Dance Of Death", and "Paschendale" is a grand version with a lot of strings. Also, the album includes an electric band version of "Journeyman", which was moistened with acoustic and orchestral sounds. There were almost no such different mixes in the 80s, so this is a rare take that is unique to recent years when strings have begun to be incorporated. In addition to this, "Dance Of Death (Orchestral Version 2)" and "The Reincarnation Of Benjamin Breeg (Edited Version)" have also been released as singles, but these only have different titles. The former is the same as the "Orchestral Version", and the latter is no different from the "Rock Club Version". [Disc 2: SESSIONS & OTHERS] This is a compilation of recordings that are basically different from the songs included on the album. There are three main parts. The first is the "Studio Sessions". The first three songs, "The Wicker Man", "Wrathchild", and "The Trooper", were recorded at a tour rehearsal in 2000. These were also not released to the public, and are only tracks on the American promo CD "BRAVE NEW WORLD SFX RADIO SPECIAL". The next three songs, "Hallowed Be Thy Name", "The Trooper", and "Run To The Hills", are also studio sessions, but these were recorded for "RADIO 1 LEGENDS SESSION" in 2005 and were also released as official singles. The six studio sessions in total are live performances without an audience. The mood is "different from the stage" with just the band and no audience noise. The second song is a fun one that was made while working on the album. It's three songs: "Pass The Jam", "More Tea Vicar", and "Age Of Innocence... How Old?". Although there are many cool phrases, it's an unfinished jam-like song with comical vocals. "Age Of Innocence... How Old?" is a secret track on the EP "NO MORE LIES", and is basically the same song as "Age Of Innocence" on "DANCE OF DEATH". However, Nicko McBrain is laughing and singing the narration, and the end result is quite relaxed. And the last third song is a cover. In the 80s, they released a lot of cover songs, but since they became a "six-person group", they only released "Hocus Pocus" by FOCUS and "Space Truckin'" by DEEP PURPLE. "Space Truckin'" saw the light of day in 2012, but both were recorded in 2006. At the same time, they also recorded ZZ TOP's "Tush" and THIN LIZZY's "Angel Of Death", but they are still unreleased. I hope they will release them. Unfortunately, since "THE FINAL FRONTIER", they have basically taken the download format instead of singles, and rare tracks have almost disappeared. This work is the definitive edition that covers all the unreleased songs up to now, not only different mixes but also edit versions (I'll talk about the live tracks another time...). "Disc 1", where you can listen to serious different versions, can be listened to seriously just like the regular album, and "Disc 2", which is a carefree take, makes you feel like you're in the studio with IRON MAIDEN. It's not just a convenient collection, but a great compilation that you can listen to repeatedly on a regular basis. Disc 1: ALTERNATES (73:43) 1. Wrathchild '99 2. The Wicker Man (Radio Version) 3.
