Iron Maiden, who headlined the Monsters of Rock event held on August 20, 1988 with a crowd of 100,000, performed a secret live performance at Queen Mary College in London on August 17, which also served as a warm-up gig, three days before the event. This is a complete high-quality audience recording. The recorder is Crazy S., and the recording lasts for about 1 hour and 50 minutes with clear, well-separated high-quality sound that can be said to be exceptional for audience recordings at the time. An image of the ticket for the day is posted on the back cover, but on this day, a pseudonymous band called "Charlotte & The Harlots" was booked. Although it was a warm-up gig, it was a live performance assuming the real thing, so they played 19 songs like Donington. The encore performances of 22 Acacia Avenue and 2 Minutes To Midnight, which are rare to hear in this position, are also played. The Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son tour has already been held in North America on a large scale, with Guns n' Roses, Megadeth, Ace's Frehley and others as opening acts, so the performance is well-organized and you can enjoy a high-quality performance full of tension from beginning to end. (Bruce is conscious of Donington and performs a melody with a consciously suppressed high range.) The appeal of this sound source is not the full-scale performance of the Gigantic scale that is unique to the 1988 tour, but the opposite, that of Maiden playing in a small space. The Seventh Tour is very fresh, with a sound texture like a live house that cannot be experienced at Donington or other venues on the 1988 tour. The audience seems to be very excited to see Maiden in a small venue, and there are many "Maiden calls" between songs. After the fourth song, Wrathchild, Bruce says, "It's been a while since we've played here. The power went out when we played here before." After the sixth song, The Trooper, Bruce jokingly complains about the equipment, saying, "Donington is even better." The performance of Can I Play With Madness, which has a somewhat handmade feel, is interesting. After Heaven Can Wait, Bruce MCs how violent the American audience is and how strange it is to them, the British. In the second half of the show, towards the end of the main set, there is a spectacular part where most of the big songs are played in a medley, and the performance is also great. (Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son - The Number Of The Beast - Hallowed Be Thy Name - Iron Maiden) What's amazing is that the live performance of Run To The Hills, which is just like the Donington performance, is full of excitement and the chorus is amazing, and Bruce has the audience sing on the first and second floors, creating a great atmosphere. The venue was filled with tremendous enthusiasm and singing, but the sound image was not blurred at all. After the Sanctuary performance, Bruce greeted, "See you at Donington Park Saturday!". The sound was recorded with a stable sound until the very end, so you can enjoy every song with peace of mind. It was released 10 years ago by the Langley label under the title "Monsters Warm Up", but it has been out of print for a long time, and this time it has been remastered from the original source (all the right-leaning sound images have been corrected). It is a must-have for collectors as the best version of the same sound source. The precious warm-up live of 1988 Monsters of Rock, which can be said to be one of the peak points of Iron Maiden in the late 1980s, will be re-released for the first time in 10 years.
