IRON MAIDEN broke the iron curtain and invaded Poland in 1984. A special version of the official documentary is now available. The true identity of this work is the official tour documentary "BEHIND THE IRON CURTAIN". It is a DVD that combines two different versions. Of course, this documentary is also officially released on DVD as a bonus content for "Resurrection of the Dead", but this work is different from that. In fact, there are various versions of "BEHIND THE IRON CURTAIN", and the situation is quite complicated. In order to explain that, let's first organize what kind of version differences there are. Hammersmith sound source used A: MTV original broadcast version (6 live songs: about 50 minutes) B: Early software version (normal) (2 live songs + 2 PV songs: about 30 minutes) C: Early software version (North America) (2 live songs + 2 PV songs: about 38 minutes) Polish sound source used D: MTV's other broadcast version (6 live songs: about 46 minutes) E: Official DVD version (7 live songs: about 57 minutes) ... and so on. To summarize the history briefly, this documentary was originally broadcast on MTV (A above), and a shortened version was officially released on VHS etc. (B and C above). However, the live recorded in the broadcast version / software version at that time was not a pure Polish performance. The stereo sound board audio of "Hammersmith performance on October 12, 1984" was used, and the Polish video was edited and synchronized with it. 24 years have passed since then, and "Resurrection of the Dead" was officially released on DVD in 2008. It was included as a bonus content called "The Complete Version of BEHIND THE IRON CURTAIN" (E above). However, this was not just a long version. The audio was replaced from Hammersmith to the real Polish performance, and the editing of the video was also significantly changed. It was a completely different work. To make things even more complicated, a shorter version than the DVD (D above) was also broadcast on MTV's "SUNDAAY SPECIAL" while replacing the Polish audio like the official DVD. As such, there are complex and mysterious version differences in "BEHIND THE IRON CURTAIN", but of course the current world standard is the official DVD "E". And conversely, the most difficult to obtain are "A" and "C", and this work is a coupling DVD of the two most difficult types. [A: MTV original broadcast version] The first half of this work is MTV's original broadcast. It is the second longest version (about 50 minutes) after the official DVD, and the live is six songs. At a glance at the track list, it seems that there are only fewer "22 Acacia Avenue" tracks than on the official DVD, but as mentioned above, all six tracks are from the Hammersmith performance, and the camera work is different. Moreover, this is not just the sound from a different performance. Speaking of "Hammersmith 1984", it is well known for being used on the D side of the live album version of "Resurrection of the Dead" and as a live single. Although the six songs you can listen to here are from the same live performance, they do not overlap with those official takes. It is also a treasure sound board that brings you closer to the full picture of Hammersmith, which was said to be in better condition than Long Beach in the main part of "Resurrection of the Dead". *Note: There is a momentary sound cut in "The Number Of The Beast" in this work, but this is due to the analog master. It is valuable and the best master known at the moment, so it is recorded as it is. [C: North American version VHS longer than the regular version] The second half of this work is the rarest North American VHS version of the official version of "BEHIND THE IRON CURTAIN". The content is basically the same as the other countries' versions at the time, but it is about 8 minutes longer. The live parts are "Hallowed Be Thy Name" and "Run To The Hills", and the audio is the 1984 Hammersmith sound source, just like "A" above. "Aces High" and "2 Minutes To Midnight" are clips, not live. The part longer than the other countries' versions is the documentary part. Of course, even though it is long, it does not reach the 50-minute "A", but this North American VHS (C) has different detailed editing and is extremely rare (it seems to have been excavated from a large amount of stock tapes released when the now-defunct Houston rare record store "Diamondhead Records" closed). There may be some collectors who learned of its existence for the first time through this work. This is a "different version of BEHIND THE IRON CURTAIN" set, which is different from both the official DVD "Resurrection of the Dead" version and the Japanese VHS/LD version at the time. The MTV broadcast version features 1984 Hammersmith's "Aces High", "The Trooper", "The Number Of The Beast" and "2 Minutes To Midnight", which could not be seen on any official software. And the North American VHS version, which is extremely rare in itself. Both of these have been made into DVDs with the highest peak master, making them a must-have treasure for collectors. A maniac, but at the same time a completely official professional shot that anyone can enjoy. A set of two different versions of the official documentary "BEHIND THE IRON CURTAIN". The "original MTV broadcast version" is the main focus, with the "North American VHS version", which was longer than other countries, added as a bonus. Both use the soundboard audio from the "Hammersmith performance on October 12, 1984" for the live scenes, and the video is edited separately. This is a rare version that is different from both the current official DVD "Resurrection of the Dead" and the Japanese version VHS/LD of the time.
