IRON MAIDEN's latest live album has arrived, with fresh memories of their performance in Japan. They toured North America, Japan, and China in April, but then headed to New Zealand/Australia. This work is a masterpiece of that Oceania tour. First of all, let's check the progress since the Japan performance. ・April 20th and 21st: Japan performance (Ryogoku Kokugikan) ・April 24th and 26th: China performance (Beijing & Shanghai) ・April 29th: Christchurch performance ・May 1st: Auckland performance ・May 4th: Brisbane performance [this work] May 6th: Sydney performance May 9th: Melbourne performance May 12th: Adelaide performance May 14th: Perth performance In this way, 2 performances in Japan After the two performances in China, the Oceania leg consisted of seven performances. This work is the audience album of the third performance, “May 4, 2016 Brisbane Performance (Australia)”. The biggest flavor of this work is the sound. Speaking of “THE BOOK OF SOULS WORLD TOUR 2016”, for some reason there were almost no good recordings from the North and South America tour at the beginning of the tour. There was a lack of sound sources, so much so that the Japanese performance could even be called “the first real record”. Since this is the case in North America, an advanced recording country, I didn't expect much from Oceania, which only had 7 performances...but I was not expecting it to be a huge turnaround! This work has a wonderful sound that approaches the masterpiece “JAPAN FINAL 2016” of the Japanese performance. To be honest, Ryogoku Kokugikan, the site of the Japanese performance, cannot be said to be suitable for rock concerts, and "JAPAN FINAL 2016" was also held by a famous recording artist who used his will, skill, and luck to solve the venue's handicap. It was a masterpiece that turned everything upside down. On the other hand, the Brisbane Entertainment Center, the venue for this work, is a multi-purpose arena, but it is also a venue where concerts are held regularly. From this work, it is a sound that clearly conveys that it is a concert-friendly acoustic. Although the detailed recording position is not transmitted, the sound is extremely clear and direct. There is no doubt that it is an audience recording because it also picks up enthusiastic cheers, but the musical tone itself is almost at the sound board level. Three intricately intertwined guitars, the pounding bass of Steve Harris, who is also the face of MAIDEN, and Nico McBrain's drumming that forms the geometric framework of the bass. His fast-paced style, which conveys the sharp edge of each song, is a little different from what the audience is accustomed to. Of course, the roaring vocals on top of that are also amazing. Even at the Japanese performance, the vocalization was so vivid that people wondered, "Is this a song about recovering from illness?" Not only the sharp shouts, but also the delicate expression of the whispering, the range of vibration of the vibrato, and the luster of the long tones, all of which make it seem like a broadcast sound source. It's so clear that you want to say, "Are they really not connected by a line?" On top of that, the enthusiastic cheers were amazing. "JAPAN FINAL 2016" was a miraculous recording that had a thick large chorus reminiscent of ACCEPT's male chorus, but there were no close singing voices, but this work has a wide range from close to far. Of course, there are no harsh screams, but it is the type where chants of various distances are layered. The chorus of "JAPAN FINAL 2016" is "beautiful" and this work could be described as "hot". The reality of being “on the scene” is even more vivid. IRON MAIDEN, which has traveled to North and South America → Japan → China → Oceania, is currently moving to South Africa. After that, we will finally go on a circuit around the main battlefield of Europe. As expected, there will be no recordings from South Africa, so the next great recording will probably appear after mid-June. This work is a masterpiece that is on par with the Japanese performance on “THE BOOK OF SOULS WORLD TOUR 2016” which started in February 2016. Of course, first and foremost we recommend "JAPAN FINAL 2016," which Japan is proud of to the world, but this work is the most likely candidate when it comes to "something for overseas performances." A masterpiece that allows you to enjoy the best sound of IRON MAIDEN, which is still in its heyday even though it has been formed for 41 years. It's good to reminisce about their performances in Japan, it's good to be exposed to the enthusiasm overseas, and it's good to travel around the world with them in real time.
