On January 13, 2006, Ian Paice & Friends performed at a charity concert in Reading, England, recorded on a stereo soundboard leaked by a related party. At the time, Paice was actively performing live during the off-season with Purple, including guest appearances with a European Purple cover band, and for this charity concert, he invited former Whitesnake members to participate, with Bernie Marsden on guitar and vocals, Neil Murray on bass, and Don Airey on keyboards, to perform a special live show. As expected from the lineup, the set list included many early Whitesnake numbers, and Bernie in particular was a major star. Paice's drumming was also at its best with this great lineup, and he played B.B. King and Freddie King numbers in an R&B style that was different from Purple's approach. After some covers, the second half of the show returned to hard rock numbers, with Bernie's AOR-style "Fool For Your Loving," the "US Remix" version of "Here I Go Again," and Bernie's version of "Smoke On The Water," bringing the fun show to a close. 1.
