This is a rare live recording by Herbie Hancock. The band members' credits include what appear to be strange nicknames, which appear to be Swahili and are the same spellings as on several of Hancock's studio albums from this period. The studio albums in question are "Mwandishi" and "Sextant," but this live recording is a compilation of three titles released between 1971 and 1972, including "Crossings." Considering that the album released after these three, which became a worldwide sensation, was none other than "Head Hunters," the significance of this live recording is indicative. However, unlike "Head Hunters," the content is far less catchy; rather, it exudes an experimental, somewhat free jazz, and even spiritual atmosphere. There are also hints of funk throughout. This is a valuable live recording that captures the transitional period following his departure from Miles Davis and his departure from the Blue Note label. In terms of sound quality, the jacket description is "Very Good," one step below "Excellent," but this is because there is noise (mainly hiss) in many places. The label has further upgraded the new master, which was remastered and edited by overseas enthusiasts. According to the master, it is a soundboard, and listening to the cheers between songs, it seems likely that it is a soundboard. As mentioned above, the content is somewhat geared towards enthusiasts, so it can be said that the sound quality will be enjoyable for those who are willing to listen to this content without much problem.
