Another superb live recording from HEART is now available from the "Wolfgang's Vault" sound source series, which is a must-listen-to live recording for rock enthusiasts! This time, two live performances from July 1980 from the "BEBE LE STRANGE" tour, which was a turning point in the band's early days, will be released as a 2-CD set that fans will need. In this "second part" of "BEBE LE STRANGE IN BLOOMINGTON," "BEBE LE STRANGE IN CINCINNATI," you can enjoy the performance at the Riverfront Coliseum in Cincinnati, Ohio on July 30th, also with a super high-quality stereo sound board! Since the release of their first album in 1975, HEART has steadily built up their career. In 1979, they performed their first visit to Japan to great acclaim, reaching their early peak about five years after their debut. However, around the time of the end of the "DOG AND BUTTERFLY" tour in 1979, changes in the relationships within the band began to be seen. The symbolic event was the departure of Roger Fisher. Fisher had been the driving force behind the band since the days of HEART's predecessor, ARMY, and had been the core of the band's sound as an original member. His departure prompted a major change in the band, and marked a turning point for HEART to be reborn as the "band led by the Wilson sisters" in both name and reality. In 1980, HEART released their first album since Fischer's departure, "BEBE LE STRANGE." In March of that year, they also held a large-scale US tour, and the album was ranked 5th in the US, their highest ranking to date, but they missed out on the platinum certification they had been receiving since their first album. This work features a live performance in Cincinnati, Ohio on July 30th from the 1980 tour, recorded using official stereo soundboard sound sources excavated from "Wolfgang's Vault." The quality of this work is just "perfect", just like "ROCK THE HOUSE LIVE! Erie 1990" and "ROCK THE HOUSE LIVE! Worcester 1990" released on press CD the other day. From the opening "Bebe Le Strange", you can enjoy the masterpieces and great performances with outstanding clarity and visibility. While pushing Ann's wonderful vocals to the forefront, you can also hear Howard Rees' guitar, Steve Fossen's bass, and Michael Derosier's drums in detail. However, what you should listen to most of all at this live performance is Nancy's playing. With the loss of Roger Fisher's guitar, which had been the core of the sound in HEART up until then, Nancy's playing has inevitably become more important, and each song has become a spotlight. There are a series of tasteful scenes, such as the guitar that can be heard in "Crazy On You" and "Straight On", as well as the vocals shown in the light-hearted "Raised On You". After that, "Strange Night", "Just The Wine", "Dog & Butterfly" and "Mistral Wind" have a warm sound and a powerful rock attitude that is exquisite. These are the original musicality of HEART that was not often experienced in the "gorgeous line" from the mid-'80s onwards. The flow from Nancy's guitar instrumental "Silver Wheels" to "Break" is the highlight of the live. "Silver Wheels" is often used as an introduction to "Crazy On You" in live performances, but it is surprisingly rare to have the same structure as the album, so this is a highlight. "Magic Man" with Anne's vocals that are like Robert Plant's power and singing style, and the hard "Barracuda" are sure to excite HEART fans! The cover song part that livens up the second half of the live, such as "Rock And Roll", "I'm Down" and "Long Tall Sally", are all great to listen to. However, the most noteworthy part of this live performance is "Tell It Like It Is" (a cover of Aaron Neville's song)! This song was released as a single in 1980, and is a key feature of this live performance that cannot be heard on "Bebe Le Strange in Bloomington". You can enjoy a great performance that shows off HEART's musicality and playability to the fullest! This album, which contains the Cincinnati performance, and "Bebe Le Strange in Bloomington", which contains the Minnesota performance, allow you to enjoy HEART's live performance in 1980, when they were in the midst of change, with superb sound and amazing realism. These recordings, which can be said to be important in the history of American rock in the 1980s, are definitely a must-have for all HEART fans.
