Another superb live source of HEART is now available from the "Wolfgang's Vault" sound source series, which is a must-listen live source for rock enthusiasts! This time, two live performances from July 1980 from the "BEBE LE STRANGE" tour, which was a turning point in the band's early days, will be released as a 2-CD set that is a must-have for fans. In this "first part" of the album, "BEBE LE STRANGE IN BLOOMINGTON," you can enjoy the performance in Bloomington, Minneapolis, Minnesota on July 26th with a stereo sound board that can be officially released as it is! Since the release of their first album in 1975, HEART has steadily built up their career. In 1979, they performed their first performance in Japan to good acclaim, reaching their early peak about five years after their debut. However, around the time of the end of the "DOG AND BUTTERFLY" tour in 1979, changes in the relationships within the band began to be seen. The symbolic event was the departure of Roger Fisher. Fisher had been the driving force behind HEART since the band's predecessor, ARMY, and had been the core of the band's sound as an original member. His departure prompted a major change in the band, and was a turning point for HEART to be reborn as the "Wilson sisters' band" in both name and reality. In 1980, HEART released their first album since Fisher's departure, "BEBE LE STRANGE." It reached No. 5 on the US charts, their highest ranking to date, but the album also showed the influence of punk and new wave, making the band's changes apparent. This work is a recording of the performance in Bloomington, Minnesota (Minneapolis) on July 26th from the 1980 tour, recorded on the finest stereo soundboard unearthed at "Wolfgang's Vault." Like the press CDs "ROCK THE HOUSE LIVE! Erie 1990" and "ROCK THE HOUSE LIVE! Worcester 1990," this work also has perfect sound quality. HEART recorded several live takes for the compilation "GREATEST HITS / LIVE" released in the same year. The fact that there are such a large number of live recordings other than those may mean that they were considering releasing a live album. The flow from the lively "Bebe Le Strange" to the hard "Crazy On You" is the appearance of HEART in the '70s, which makes enthusiasts groan, "This is HEART!". The sound, with Anne's powerful vocals reminiscent of Robert Plant at the center and Nancy and Howard Rees' guitars neatly separated into left and right channels, is a wonderful listen. The rhythms of Steve Fossen and Michael Derosier, who supported the band in the early days, can also be heard with heavy weight and clear contours. The main highlight of the live performances during this period is the new songs, which were set in as many as eight songs. The three consecutive songs from "Even It Up" to "Raised On You" and then "Strange Night" are irresistible (fans should especially listen to the live version of "Raised On You," on which Nancy not only sings but also plays all the instruments except for the drums on the album)! "Down On Me," which appears in the middle of the show, and "Silver Wheels" and "Break," which are combined according to the album's structure, are also important accents that liven up the show. Also, don't miss the selection of songs unique to this era, such as "Just The Wine" and "Mistral Wind." The show reaches its climax with the band's representative masterpieces "Magic Man" and "Barracuda"! After rocking out with the familiar ZEPPELIN number "Rock And Roll" and covers of THE BEATLES' "I'm Down" and "Long Tall Sally," the show closes with a gentle closing performance of "Unchained Melody," which is only available on this day. The listener will be impressed by Anne's expressiveness, which skillfully manipulates various expressions, and the band's high level of performance. It's a satisfying 104 minutes that can be said to be a highlight of everything! After "PRIVATE AUDITION" following "BEBE LE STRANGE", Steve Fossen and Michael Derosier, who had been in the rhythm section since the album debut, left the band. After this, HEART went through a slump for several years, and then entered a turbulent era with a big break in 1985 with "HEART" due to an image change. This work and "BEBE LE STRANGE IN CINCINNATI" are definitive items that capture the band as it began to change in the most realistic way possible. We hope that fans will enjoy these sound sources, which are also important in the history of American rock in the '80s.
