Hall & Oates' golden age was marked by the big hit of "BIG BAM BOOM." This is the ultimate soundboard/pro-shot set that conveys the highlight performance. The highlight performance was "THE LIBERTY CONCERT" held at Liberty State Park on July 4, 1985. This three-disc set features the stereo soundboard recording on DISC 1-2 and multi-camera pro-shots on DISC 3. While this day was a special event, it was also part of the heyday of the "BIG BAM BOOM Tour." First, let's take a bird's-eye view of their activities at the time and look at the position of this work. 1984: January 26th - February 24th: Hawaii / Australia / Thailand / Japan #1 (16 shows); February 27th - March 18th: Europe (16 shows); October 12th: "BIG BAM BOOM" released; October 26th - December 18th: North America #1 (34 shows); 1985: February 7th - May 23rd: North America #2 (53 shows); June 6th - June 19th: Japan #2 (8 shows); June 29th - July 4th: North America #3 (3 shows) ←★here★; July 13th: Live Aid appearance. This is Hall & Oates in 1984/1985. "North America #1/2/3" and "Japan #2" correspond to the "BIG BAM BOOM Tour." Their appearance at "THE LIBERTY CONCERT" in this work was the final day of that world tour. This day also marked American Independence Day, and the show itself was an outdoor charity concert to support the restoration of the Statue of Liberty. It also took place nine days before the largest event of the 20th century, "LIVE AID." Such a major event was broadcast live on "Westwood One" and on TV. It was also officially released as a video work, "THE LIBERTY CONCERT." This work is a definitive set featuring the best masters of the soundboard and pro shots from this historic concert. Let's take a look at the live album and video versions separately. DISC 1-2: Newly discovered pre-FM reel master recording featuring the complete program. The main focus of this work is the stereo soundboard recording of the monumental concert. As mentioned above, this show was also broadcast on radio on "Westwood One," but this work features the latest, highest-quality updated master. This is the pre-FM reel master recently released by the prestigious "Krw_co." The master quality, which hasn't even been broadcast, is impressive, but what's even more shocking is the complete version. It's not just the complete show. The entire broadcast, right down to the commercials, is recorded in its entirety. In fact, this show was a special broadcast by renowned DJ George Taylor Morris, and it started before the show even began. The program built up anticipation for the historic show before storming into the full show. This work also includes a 32-minute recording of the pre-show portion. Of course, the main focus is the full concert. This is also fully recorded at 114 minutes, far longer than the official footage described below. Let's compare the golden full set here. Big Bang Boom (6 songs) Dance on Your Knees / Out of Touch / Some Things Are Better Left Unsaid / Possession Obsession / Method of Modern Love / Going Thru the Motions (★) Others (12 songs) Modern Voice: Kiss on My List (★) / You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin' / You Make My Dreams Private Eyes: I Can't Go for That (No Can Do) (★) / Private Eyes (★) H2O: Family Man / Maneater Others: Rich Girl / Say It Isn't So / Sara Smile (★) / Adult Education / Hot Fun In The Summertime *Note: "★" marks songs included only on the live album edition (DISC 1-2). DISC 3: Best Master of Out-of-Print Official Footage Following this full soundboard is a multi-camera pro-shot version of the same show. This is the best master. This is the official video, "THE LIBERTY CONCERT," which went out of print in the 1980s and has yet to be officially digitized. Naturally, its quality is the best available. Our shop has digitized and archived numerous out-of-print videos, and this work utilizes that expertise to recreate the visual beauty of this release, ensuring it's completely official. While you might think, "It's official, so it's only natural," this release is anything but. Even in this age of digital madness, it achieves a transcendent visual beauty that is beautiful to the eye. Even if the original master tapes were still available in the official warehouse, it's doubtful they would be able to withstand 40 years of aging and retain the quality of this release. Looking back at history, the "BIG BAM BOOM Tour" has been described as the end of the band's heyday and a culmination of its storied history. This is the ultimate compilation, packed with highlights from the final show of the tour. The live album (Discs 1-2) brings the entire day to life using pre-FM reel masters, while the video (Disc 3) is a polished, musical work. This big set allows you to enjoy both at the highest quality currently possible. This three-disc set is truly a cultural heritage. It includes stereo soundboard recordings and multi-camera pro-shots from "The Liberty Concert, July 4, 1985." The live album (Discs 1-2) features the complete 146-minute broadcast (including the pre-show portion) from recently unearthed pre-FM master reels. The video (Disc 3) is a digitized version of the out-of-print official video from the best masters. This ultimate 3-disc set features highlights from the "BIG BAM BOOM Tour," marking the end of their heyday. Recorded in Liberty State Park, Jersey City, NJ, USA, July 4, 1985.
