In the early 90's, GUNS N' ROSES rose to become the darlings of the era and reigned over the scene as the biggest monster in the rock world. The out-of-print official video series, which was possible only in such an era, is reprinted at the highest quality. It is now available as a complete 3-disc set. The out-of-print video is the "MAKIN' F@*!NG VIDEOS" series. This is an official video work featuring the PV from the "USE YOUR ILLUSION" era. Even though it is a PV, this work is a blockbuster work that is on a different level from the usual clip collections. Clips for 12 songs were created for ``USE YOUR ILLUSION I & II,'' but three of them, ``Don't Cry,'' ``November Rain,'' and ``Estranged,'' were conceived as a trilogy story. It became a huge project with a budget similar to that of a blockbuster movie. Moreover, it wasn't just a gorgeous clip. A 60-minute home video was produced and released for each song. It became a video blockbuster with a total of 3 films (3 hours). It was truly a gigantic project that involved a lot of Riki, but perhaps due to its problematic content (which I will explain later), there was no hope of making it into an official DVD, and the only VHS/laser disc that was released at the time was out of print. There is. This work is a 3-disc set of DVDs that has been reprinted from the domestic laser disc of the phantom trilogy in the highest quality, complete with Japanese subtitles. If you have been paying attention to this article, you are probably aware of the quality of our laser disc reprints. Just remember that it is ``completely official grade'' and ``highest quality ever'', and let's introduce the contents individually. [DISC 1: MAKIN' F@*!ING VIDEOS Part I “DON'T CRY”] The first of the trilogy is the PV disc for “Don't Cry.” Some may say, ``The clips are on DVD with ``WELCOME TO THE VIDEOS,'' but you can only see the completed version of the clips on that DVD. This work also starts with the completed version clip, but what is more important than that is the making documentary part. The clip itself is about 5 minutes long, and the remaining 55 minutes is the documentary. And this documentary is a masterpiece. Directors, members, and other people involved will talk, but one that stands out is the late Shannon Hoon of BLIND MELON, who shares the microphone with Axl. He died of a drug overdose in 1995, but at this point he had yet to make his debut. The innocent youthfulness that was discovered in Axel is dazzling. What is even more impressive is Axel's talkativeness. He enthusiastically talks about the anecdote about when he wrote "Don't Cry", the origin of the song's title, and, as this is the first installment, the budget of several million dollars and the grand idea that he has in mind to make it into a movie. What's more, he is enthusiastic about acting, and is enthusiastic about full-body special makeup such as the freezing man and the green monster. Izzy didn't want to be photographed and didn't show up, which led to him leaving the group, but he was extremely kind to Izzy, saying, ``We've been together for 15 years, so I want to take good care of him.'' The reason why Axel is in such a good mood is gradually revealed. A number of beautiful women appear in this clip (five to name only), but the most important one among them is Stephanie Seymour. She is a supermodel who is 6 years younger than Axl (23 years old at the time), and she and Axl met on this PV and started dating during filming. The highlight of the clip is the fight scene between the two, but behind the scenes they are passionately in love. The motif of the song is his ex-wife, Erin Everly, who says, ``We've never had a verbal fight before (Stephanie)'' and ``Last night I felt weird, sleeping with the person I'm going to fight with tomorrow (Axl).'' The eyes are hearts. When they just bumped into a wall, they sweetly asked each other, ``Are you okay?'' ``I'm glad it wasn't you,'' and they wrapped themselves in robes in a pool shoot. It's a passionate love affair that makes me feel embarrassed when I'm watching. [DISC 2: MAKIN' F@*!ING VIDEOS Part II “NOVEMBER RAIN”] Now, the second part of the trilogy that will appear next is “November Rain”. The story of Gilby Clark's joining is also discussed here, but the main topic is the story line of the trilogy. Del James (who is also GUNS's biographer), who wrote the short story "WITHOUT YOU" that served as the source material, will appear, and he and Axl will explain the story that runs through the three songs. The intention of "Don't Cry", which was difficult to understand due to the emphasis on image, is also discussed, and the connection with the "November Rain" clip, which at first glance seems to have no connection, becomes clear. And here again, Axel is in a good mood. He easily admitted that MOTOLEY CRUE was the reason he wrote the song, and his eyes lit up when he collaborated with his idol Elton John. You can also hang out with Miss Stephanie to the max. As you know, the PV features the wedding scene with her, and behind the scenes she even says, ``I wonder if she's willing to wear a bridal gown for me. I'm always OK with that.'' There is. [DISC 3: THE MAKING OF “ESTRANGED” Part IV of the Trilogy!!!] And disc 3 is the final volume, “Estranged”. At this point, the title is not "Part III" but "Part IV of the trilogy", which may have confused some people at the time. The reason for this is gradually being revealed (or hinted at), but in reality, this disc is the most problematic work and (probably) the reason why it was never made into a DVD. Basically, the structure is similar to the previous two works, and it includes explanations of various scenes being shot (the real tanker is amazing!) and the content of the songs, but the atmosphere is slightly different. The style that once became easy to understand with "November Rain" has changed to an abstract image type again, and the number of scenes with a dark atmosphere has increased. Of course, this may seem obvious given the song's lyrics, but the expression on Axel's face as he speaks about his intentions is very serious (or should I say serious), and the director's style of speaking also seems to be choosing his words carefully. It can't be helped. That premonition becomes a certainty when we approach the story's innovation, ``Why did the woman in November Rain die?'' The director himself says it's the "biggest mystery of the trilogy," but he won't reveal it. Axel simply said, ``Our plans have changed. It was difficult to get over the story we had in mind because it is related to real life,'' and the director meaningfully said, ``We avoided it because it would cause mental pain for Axel.'' Del James, the original author, completely refuses to explain, saying, ``The only thing you can do is read my book called ``Words of Fear.'' I don't speak.'' It is the essential point of the story, and its explanation is the raison d'être of documentary work. What's the point in making it vague? Just when my mind was full of questions, Axel spoke up about the truth. ★★★ Spoilers begin here. Normally I don't want to write about it, but if I don't, I won't be able to convey the biggest charm of this work. If you are interested, please purchase this work without reading. What Axl said... "We don't want something to die because we have feelings. We care about others and hope they don't die. This song applies to S. Adler and many other people. Erin and Stephanie. There's nothing she can do about our relationship, and there's nothing she can understand...Stephanie is gone. She's always trying to break things up and keep me away from work.''We broke up. (By the way, Stephanie is still alive and the mother of three children. She is not dead.) Is that what mental pain is? Was it because she dumped him that he dumped the story he had poured millions of dollars into with the ambition of turning it into a movie? At the same time, he regrets the clip for his previous work, "November Rain," saying, "There was a time when I wanted to buy it, but I decided to hold back and release it," but after all, it's a wedding PV... This work ends with an indescribably boring punch line. Was it because of adult circumstances that this ending was released as a video software, or was it just a little bit of humor? I can't tell from Axel's expression. In any case, there's no way they'll release it again on the official DVD, and it's only natural that it will become part of black history. The gap between the gorgeous feeling and the punch line that cost a lot of money. This is also a video work that could have been possible because GUNS N' ROSES were the darlings of the era. A phantom official trilogy that will likely never be revived. A fantastic official video featuring the PV of three songs "Don't Cry", "November Rain" and "Estranged" whose stories are connected has been made into a DVD. It is a 3-hour blockbuster that not only includes PVs for each song, but also a 1-hour making-of documentary for each song. Moreover, the content is not free. This is a must-see, covering not only the production of the PV, but also the behind-the-scenes story behind the creation of the music song, the epic story, how Izzy left the company, how Gilby joined the company, and even the reason why the multi-million dollar movie idea was released. There are lots of stories. You can enjoy this masterpiece of the century, which cannot be made into an official DVD, in the highest quality ever and complete with Japanese subtitles.
