Gregg Allman made his last visit to Japan before his death in 1998. This is a new excavation of the original recording that will be released for the first time to permanently preserve the memorial site. What is recorded in this work is “April 25, 1998: Tokyo Performance”. This is an exquisite audience recording. Greg first came to Japan in 1977 and has since visited four times, including with the reunited THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND. In 1998, a schedule was set to renew the record for the most performances. First, let's look back at the schedule at that time.・April 17th + 18th: Fukuoka (2 performances) ・April 20th-25th: Tokyo (6 performances) ←★Here★ ・April 27th-May 2nd: Osaka (6 performances) All of the above 14 performances. In the three cities, they did not change venues and performed at famous jazz clubs every day, and in Tokyo they performed for six consecutive nights. This work was released on the last day. After that, there was Osaka, but it was truly the last stage in Tokyo. This work was recorded at a very memorial site, and the sound is excellent. There is a good sense of space in terms of tone, but since it is a small club, there is no sense of distance. Rather, the atmosphere accurately depicts the feeling of being in a closed room at the scene, creating the feeling that ``Greg is right in front of me.'' Of course, that feeling of being behind closed doors is not just about being close. The depth of the silent parts makes the ensemble stand out three-dimensionally, and the vividness of the roaring applause creates a realistic sense of presence. Beautiful musically, easy to listen to as an entertainment piece, and full of realism as a documentary. It is also an album that has a well-balanced combination of all the elements required of a live album. What is depicted in such a realistic sound is a selection of famous songs that casually survey his career. Let's organize the contents here. Original・THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND: Midnight Rider/Melissa/Whipping Post・GREGG ALLMAN BAND: I'm No Angel/Before The Bullets Fly・FLOYD MILES & FRIENDS: All The Love I Can/Goin' Back To Daytona Cover・Trouble No More (Muddy Waters) ・Slip Away (Clarence Carter) / Love The Poison (THE SNAKES) / The Dark End Of The Street (Dan Penn) ・Born Under A Bad Sign (BOOKER T. & THE MG's) / Keep On Smilin' (WET WILLIE)/Statesboro Blues (Blind Willie McTell)...and so on. "All The Love I Can" and "Goin' Back To Daytona" may be unfamiliar song titles, but these are numbers from the album "GOIN' BACK TO DAYTONA" by Floyd Miles, who plays percussion. Greg also participated, especially on the title song. There is a wide range of covers, including classics such as "Trouble No More" and "Slip Away", which are familiar from studio works, and "Statesboro Blues", which is indispensable for solo stages, as well as the standard "Born Under A Bad Sign". Rare songs such as "The Dark End Of The Street" and "Keep On Smilin'" are as fun as a toy box. Above all, the excitement at the scene was fueled by such masterpieces. As mentioned above, this work also breathes the breath of the audience, which is very good. As soon as the recording started, the darkness erupted with joy, and cheers were heard everywhere. Afterwards, there was the excitement of witnessing a legend in rock history, relaxed clapping, and generous applause. Of course, the fan base doesn't make a big fuss that drowns out the performance, but it's a reaction that naturally arises from the heart, so you can synchronize just by listening. It is a live album that dissolves not only in the performance but also in the mood of the scene. No one could have imagined that this day would be the last chance to see Greg this year. There is no sense of sadness or determination in this work, just natural music. But that's exactly why it's wonderful, and the emotion is even deeper. This work is a real sound CD of such a memorial night. The scent of the scene that will never return emanates from the speakers. Exquisite audience recording of "April 25, 1998: Tokyo Performance". This is an original recording only for this work, which will be released for the first time, and the feeling of a closed room in a small club is the best. Although it breathes in a realistic atmosphere, the physical proximity creates the feeling that ``Greg is right in front of me''. The ensemble stands out three-dimensionally, and the liveliness of the roaring applause conveys a real sense of presence. Beautiful musically, easy to listen to as an entertainment piece, and full of realism as a documentary. It is also an album that has a well-balanced combination of all the elements required of a live album. This is the highest peak of a documentary album that allows you to be present at Greg's last Tokyo performance with ultra-realistic sound.
