Greg Lake passed away on December 7, 2016. He died after a battle with cancer. We present to you a live album that touches on his last steps. This work was recorded at the Cambridge performance on November 22, 2012. This audience album records one night of his solo tour titled "SONGS OF A LIFETIME" with the best sound. Unlike a regular band tour, this "SONGS OF A LIFETIME" is played and sung by Greg alone while playing a carefully crafted backing track. First, let's look back on what the journey of "SONGS OF A LIFETIME" was like.・April 11th - May 26th, 2012: North America (26 shows) ・November 12th - 25th, 2012: UK #1 (10 shows) ←★Here★ ・November 28th - December 5th, 2012: Italy (6 shows) ・February 16th, 2013: Hungary (1 show) ・March 20th - 25th, 2013: MOODY BLUES CRUISE ・April 5th, 2013: UK #2 (1 show) ・June 15th - 18th, 2013: Japan (3 shows) The above is the full story of "SONGS OF A LIFETIME" (According to the official website, the Japan show in June 2013 was Greg's last stage). This work was recorded at the 7th show, which was the halfway point of the "UK #1" schedule. The biggest point of this work is the sound that is the best. It is incredibly clear and transparent, and Greg's singing voice is simply beautiful. With a clarity that makes ordinary soundboards run away barefoot, the acoustic guitar seems to transmit even the sound of the strings rubbing and the vibration itself. It is definitely a type that can be called "like a soundboard", but saying so would be disrespectful to this work. The background music played in the venue and Greg's performance / singing voice are extremely detailed, but they are wrapped in a slight venue acoustics. This also highlights the beauty. The official album "SONGS OF A LIFETIME" has also been released from this tour, but it is an exceptional one that has the same sound quality and gives you a sense of reality with a tactile sensation. It is this tactile sensation that makes this work special. This tour is KING CRIMSON and EL&P. In addition to his solo, he also talks and sings a lot about his idols Elvis Presley and The Beatles. The sense of coexistence of the audience recording is particularly touching, as it is the scene where one man, "Greg Lake," entrusted his life to song. Moreover, the content is also wonderful. At the time, it was sometimes ridiculed as a "karaoke live", but Greg, who was approaching his late 60s, never wanted a thrilling ensemble from the beginning. Just talk about your life with the masterpieces you have created... The concept does not necessarily require live performance, and the performance is extremely stable thanks to the backing that was prepared in advance. You can enjoy the beautiful melody and the richness of a voice that has been aged for many years. Of course, the new arrangements are fresh and have nothing to do with the cheapness that you might imagine when you hear the word "karaoke". When you listen to it on a live album like this, a world of music that is elaborately professional unfolds. This beauty touches your heart. Those who have actually been to the Japanese concerts or listened to the official album "SONGS OF A LIFETIME" will realize that this work is a full document of the real 100% live performance, including the Q&A session and "I Believe In Father Christmas" and "Shakin' All Over" that were cut from the official album. Greg returned to Japan about six months after this work, and never stood on stage again after that. Even in the world of progressive rock, where many powerful men compete, Greg Lake is the only person who stood at the front of two of the five major bands in their golden age. This is a live album in which he himself condenses his "glorious life". It has the same sound as the official album, but you can feel "him" much more. The musical world that Greg finally reached.
