Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, the most important DJ of the old school, formed the band in 1979. This is a very valuable live performance in New York on March 25, 1983, recorded with a high-quality audience recording for that time. They released their first album, The Message, which was groundbreaking for rap, and rose to No. 8 on the R&B charts. They were also the top earners for their label, Sugarhill Records. However, there are not many live performances left of them, so this release can be said to be very groundbreaking. Flash To The Beat (1979), Freedom and Birthday Party (1980), The Adventures of Grandmaster Flash On The Wheels Of Steel and It's Nasty (1981), and their signature The Message are also well-received. Rap is all about live performances, so be sure to experience that with this item. 25 March 1983 The Peppermint Lounge New York, NY 1. Intro 2.
