The new GRAND FUNK, which has become a four-piece group with Craig Frost, is here with the definitive set of their finest professional shots. This work includes the "December 23, 1972 New York performance". A multi-camera professional shot that recorded the show at the iconic large venue "Madison Square Garden (hereinafter MSG)". This show is a long-standing staple that has also been broadcast on television, but this work is different from the TV version. It is a multi-camera professional shot of a leaked master that also includes a work counter. Although it is slightly darker than the TV broadcast version, the image quality and master freshness itself are more beautiful than TV. What is most pleasing is the sense of stability. The air checks on TV broadcasts were often disturbed, but this work is stable. Although it is hard to say that it is official in terms of both sound and image quality, the pleasure of seeing GRAND FUNK, which has only been around for a year and a half since its legendary first visit to Japan, in a multi-camera professional shot is irreplaceable. The show depicted with such quality is also wonderful. The only song that is different from the FM version on Disc 1 is "Loneliness" from "E PLURIBUS FUNK", but this is also a delicious masterpiece that cannot be heard on "CAUGHT IN THE ACT". And the performance is scorching hot. They started to incorporate pop elements in "PHOENIX" which introduced keyboards, but from there, only "Flight Of The Phoenix" was included, and the rest were all numbers from the trio era. Mark Farner's singing voice is soulful all the way, and Don Brewer's drumming is powerful. Tough rock reminiscent of the legendary first visit to Japan explodes, and the keyboard adds flavor to it. GRAND FUNK in 1972, which was enjoying its golden age and aiming for even greater heights. This is the definitive edition that depicts their big stage MSG performance with the best leaked pro shots.
