Ray Gillan, who gained attention with BLACK SABBATH's 1986 tour and with BADLANDS from 1989 to 1992, sadly passed away due to illness on December 1, 1993. Although he was active for a short period of time, he left a great legacy on the American and British rock scenes, and musicians such as Glenn Hughes and Mel Galley, who collaborated with him in BLACK SABBATH and PHENOMENA, started a movement to commemorate him. Ta. That intention came to fruition, and it was decided that a tribute live show would be held at New York's "Irvine Plaza" on February 9, 1994. On this occasion, Glenn and Mel reunited as TRAPEZE and decided to perform at Ray's tribute live. In this work, the show, which had special elements in this double sense, is recorded for about 1 hour with a perfect stereo sound board sound source brought through a special route! Naturally, this sound source, which directly uses the master cassette that was recorded at the mixing table by those involved on the day, is not available among traders at all. The sound that explodes in the ears of the fans, with the edgy performance wrapped in a dazzlingly clear sound image, is all surprising material that has never been experienced before. Immediately after this work suddenly appeared two years ago, it became a sensation among fans of BADLANDS and Ray, as well as fans of Glenn Hughes and deep enthusiasts related to BLACK SABBATH and DEEP PURPLE. is. The first 32 minutes, which is the first half of this work, includes the performance of TRAPEZE, who reunited on the same day. The trio, led by Glenn, Mel Galley, a veteran of bands such as WHITESNAKE, and Dave Holland, who will be remembered by those who know JUDAS PRIEST in the 1980s, have returned to their roots to create a solid, funk, hard song. He is showing off rock at his best. All four songs featured on this day are indispensable as the band's signature songs. The title song and "Way Back To The Bone" from their masterpiece 3rd album "YOU ARE THE MUSIC...WE'RE JUST THE BAND" captivate listeners with their funky songwriting and powerful playing. It will be. After the performance of "Way Back To The Bone", which opened the show, Ray Gillan's mother appeared on stage, introduced by Glenn. Glenn also mourns Ray's premature death with a moving speech. Glenn and Ray have a relationship between ``predecessor'' and ``successor'' in BLACK SABBATH, and they also had contact during the 1987 PHENOMENA project. This is a very important scene for fans who know the connection between the two. After that, famous songs such as "Coast To Coast", a famous ballad that Glenn self-covered in HUGHES / THRALL, and "Your Love Is Alright", which he frequently plays in his recent solo live, will be released. Glenn's lively and overwhelming vocal performance like a fish out of water can only be described as amazing, and it will be a shock to fans who were only interested in him in PURPLE and SABBATH. This TRAPEZE performance is an exquisite stage performance that all hard rock fans should listen to! In the second half, it's finally time for the tribute live. Here, a variety of musicians, including Noel Redding, appear on stage, and there are many scenes that surprise fans. The vocalist on this stage is Jenny Lane, who unfortunately passed away suddenly the other day. With covers of Jimi Hendrix songs such as "Little Wing" and "Stone Free," they will perform in front of fans with a different and rich singing style from their WARRANT days. During the band's jam session part, where Jenny MCs, ``It was a lot longer than the rehearsal!'', the backing members play incandescently, backed by their solid technique. The drum and bass solo performances are also very satisfying to listen to). A sound check of about 2 minutes is performed here, and the climax of the main sound source “High Wire” begins. As the MC said, "Next is the BADLANDS song. It's going to be amazing," Paul Pesco's guitar mimics Jake E. Lee's tone, and Jenny's powerful vocals rival Ray's, creating a powerful live performance. Make the sound roar! Perhaps because each player was too enthusiastic, the band as a whole seemed to lose track of the song's structure midway through, but BADLANDS' signature song, played in a spontaneous mood, was a hit with just the audience at the venue. It heats up the listener to the fullest. Unfortunately, the sound recorded on the tape ends here, and the next song "Winter's Call" only includes the intro. Glenn seems to have been on vocals for this "Winter's Call", so it's a shame that this song has been lost! However, although it is about 60 minutes, it is truly miraculous that this special gig only for this day was left with the best direct sound. This final chapter of the Ray Gillan story, which reaches the end through famous sound sources from the BLACK SABBATH era and "LOST IN A SHADOW," is a perfect way to remember Ray Gillan from the past, and is a must-see for all hard rock and heavy metal fans. This is a must-have book! Live at Irving Plaza, New York, USA 9th February 1994 STEREO SBD(from Original Masters) Glenn Hughes with Trapeze 1. Introduction 1 2. Way Back To The Bone 3.
