Gil Evans' historic live performance that captures the birth of the legendary "Monday Night Orchestra" in the 1980s is here! In the 1980s, great artist Gil Evans continued to perform at Sweet Basil in New York (closed after 9/11) as his base of activity until his death in 1988. From 1983 to the following year, he invited various top-notch players and held nightly sessions at Seventh Avenue South, also in New York (many titles have already been released by the same label), and as a result, Gil himself was convinced. Once the orchestra had become the best it could be, they signed a contract to perform at Sweet Basil every Monday night as their base. Because of this, Gill's orchestra came to be known as the "Monday Night Orchestra." At that time, the home of New York was home to many famous live venues such as the Village Vanguard and Blue Note, each with its own attractive program that would make it hard for jazz fans to decide where to go. I'll go to Sweet Basil without hesitation! This was said to be common knowledge in the 80's for jazz lovers! The historic live performance on August 13, 1984 (Monday, of course!), when Gil's orchestra first appeared on the "Sweet Basil" stage, is now available in ultra-high-quality sound that has been carefully remastered by the label. In addition to the two albums, which were completely recorded for two and a half hours, the live performance at the Cool Jazz Festival held at Avery Fisher Hall in New York on June 22nd was also carefully remastered by the label. A 3-disc set coupled with the one recorded with good sound has arrived! Disc 1 Live at Kool Jazz Festival,Avery Fisher Hall,New York City,NY June.22.1984 VG - AUD 2016 Original Remaster 65 min 1.
