This is an audience shot video of the legendary George & Clapton's Japan tour, from the final leg to the first day at the Tokyo Dome. This is one of the videos familiar to enthusiasts, which has been popular for a long time among this tour. After all, in 1991, video shooting from the audience seats was very difficult and tough, combined with the size of the equipment. It feels like a different era from the current era when video shooting with smartphones is OK. Especially when shooting from the Tokyo Dome, the safest way to shoot was to put the camera on your lap from the stand seats (by hiding the camera with your jacket, for example) without holding it. It is assumed that this video was shot in exactly that situation. Fortunately, it was a concert in December, so there was no trouble with a jacket to hide the camera. Naturally, there are limits to close-ups, and it is not at a level where you can see the expressions of George and Clapton. Rather, it is a typical audience shot of the early 1990s that captures the entire stage. Immediately after the start of the live performance, the entire stage is captured in this way, but from around "Dark Horse", the subject is switched to the screen. Even then, depending on the song, the screen would white out, and it would be impossible to see their expressions. The camera would turn away in the middle of "Give Me Love," or go out of focus for a long time in "If I Needed Someone," so the footage was recorded at a level that was typical of that era. I was at the Tokyo Dome on the day, and watched the concert from the opposite side of the footage, but the sense of distance from the stage was exactly like this footage, and in a way it brought back memories of that day. In the first half of the stage, you can see George in his glittery jacket (lol) like an enka singer, and Clapton praising Greg Phillinganes and hugging him after "Pretending." In the second half, they were so dedicated to filming the screen that it was fortunate that the footage had evolved to a state where it could be watched despite its poor quality. The video is surprisingly worth watching, with scenes unique to this Japan tour being fully enjoyable, such as George changing into a blue jacket and showing off his slide guitar skills in "Cloud Nine" and "Cheer Down", and the band members dancing without instruments at the end of the Ray Cooper corner that livens up the venue in the encore "Roll Over Beethoven". This was the extent of the audience shots of the era, but at the time, I was grateful to have purchased it at a video store because I could still watch George & Clapton's Japan tour...
