The only concert George and his friends performed in 1985 was at the Rockpalast Festival. It was broadcast on television. This time, we have compiled all the footage related to George Clinton and made it into a Blu-ray in 1080PHD quality. First of all, George produced the Red Hot Chili Peppers' second album, "Freaky Styley," and from that album, he performed a cover of the Meters' song "Hollywood" with George. It's a lot of fun, like a teacher from Funk University and a naughty student. As for George and his live performance, the name is actually George Clinton & Funkadelic. Funkadelic, which Warner holds the rights to, should not have been available at that time, so it is unclear what happened to Parliament, or if it was just a mistake in the credits. In fact, it is introduced under that name in the introduction before the performance. It is a guess, but it seems that the Funkadelic album "By Way Of The Drum," which had not been released for a long time, was completed around this time, and I think that this is related to it. The members are similar to the P-Funk All-Stars of the early 80s, but Bernie is not there, and instead David Lee Spradley, who became an important figure in the 80s, and the genius Joseph Amp Fiddler are participating for the first time on keyboards. New Wave keyboardist Thomas Dolby also appears as a guest (there is a song called "May The Cube Be With You" with George). Andre Fox is listed as a guitarist (credits say he plays various instruments). This is also his first time on a P-Funk stage. Cordell Mawson also seems to be back on guitar. Mudbone is not there, but I don't think he's named Parlett, and three female chorus members add color to the song. Maceo Parker is also credited, but he is thought to have been in James Brown's band by that time. Robert Peanut Johnson is also credited, but it is highly likely that he is not there. The opening "Funkentelechy" is an intro-like performance, and then it goes into "Cosmic Slop". Vocalist Gary Scheider is singing from high up on a crane. He probably isn't scared of heights because he was suspended in the air in "Bop Gun" in the 70s, but I'm worried about whether he'll be able to return to the stage by the end of this song. Ron Ford is also singing on stage with a mop. Is he trying to clean up the muddy water of the universe? As Michael Hampton's guitar roars, the crane gradually descends, and George appears at the end of this song. Behind him, Gary, who was wearing clothes because it was cold earlier, comes on stage in a diaper with a guitar. Then, "Let's Take It To The Stage" led by Michael's cutting, and the phrase of Sly's "Thank You" enters. The horns are P-Funk Horns, Benny Cowan, Greg Thomas, and Greg Boyer. George's agile dance and young amp are also shown. And the bass is Rodney Curtis, who has such dignity and skill that it can be said to be the backbone. The phrase "Up For The Down Stroke" is included, and this arrangement was often performed at the 1983 live, but it includes a guitar solo by Blackbird. And it leads to "Night Of The Thumpasorus Peoples", which is a development that can only be seen here. It ends with Dennis Chambers' wild drumming and moves on to the performance of "One Nation Under A Groove". Gary sings while interacting with the audience. The performance moves to "(Not Just) Knee Deep" like a medley. This sudden change is pretty cool. Here too, Michael plays a sharp guitar solo at Gary's call. The dancing of Sarnose, who is not supposed to dance, is cool (it seems that on Parliament's last album "Trombipulation", he actually remembered that his ancestors were funky, under the power of cocaine, and decided to dance). The performance ends with the horn phrase of "Disco To Go". "Maggot Brain" starts with George's narration, but there is no keyboard by Bernie, and of course Maceo Parker is not there, so there is no flute, and the performance starts purely with Michael's guitar. Rodney, wearing a shirt with a rising sun flag design (probably with "Ariake" written on it), is sitting and playing the bass. And the person who had been playing the guitar in the back wearing a hat like Yusaku Matsuda from Detective Story, yes, Eddie Hazel, finally comes forward and starts playing. Michael smiles intimately, while Eddie has a smug look on his face, and the twin guitars are just the famous scene. There is also a Blackbird. And in "Standing On The Verge Of Gettin' It On", George approaches the audience and encourages them. And George puts in the phrase "Give Up The Funk (Tear The Roof Off The Sucker)". Skeete's interesting bass line and Eddie Hazel's guitar solo, which has a certain elegance to it, are played by George, who is laughing and teasing him. Then JB's "Funky Good Time" is sung, and one of the three female chorus members sings a solo (there are only two in the credits, and it's not either of them, so it's unclear who is singing). From the intro by the three P-Funk Horns, we move on to "Atomic Dog". David Lee Spradley's keyboard playing is shown. There is also a scene where Gary seems to be telling the amp fiddler to turn up the keyboard sound. A person who seems to be Michael Payne is also shown. Dennis' drumming is great, but the bass comes in at an exquisite timing and they switch to playing "Flash Light". The woman who was singing solo earlier, who received the microphone from George, comes to the front of the stage and sings. Dennis' drumming is amazing here too. The amp comes to the front with a shoulder keyboard. George approaches the camera, and looks as if he wonders how cool these people are. He shouts, "Don't stop, stand up," and George and Lij Curry, who were singing in the background, respond to the audience. The live doesn't end on a high note, and there is an encore. It was probably planned in advance, and it was "Cosmic Slop" with festival band members from Killing Joke, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and The Untouchables. First, Anthony is the vocalist, dressed almost exactly like Gary Scheider in just pants, and Gary in a diaper and the two naked generals are singing in a chaotic state like karaoke in a banquet hall. In fact, George is shouting in a flashy pajama pattern that he was given at the hotel. The other musicians are playing quite noisily, but when George encourages a phrase of the song, Anthony joins in with "Get off your ass and jam," etc. How many people are on stage? But somehow, George Clinton managed to pull it together. The fireworks didn't end the stage, and George and the others continued playing. "Mothership Connection (Star Child)". They also sang "Swing Down Sweet Chariot". Unfortunately, the power of the TV station could make the Mothership descend for the first time in a long time, but the live performance itself was great. George stood out more than Gary, and the result was a great finale. In fact, a tour with Red Hot Chili Peppers and George was planned, but it didn't come to fruition. And P-Funk's live performances stopped for a while after this. The era of large funk bands was about to come to an end.
