George started his own label, Uncle Jam, but the deal didn't go as expected due to the sale of Casablanca. Meanwhile, he took the recovered Bootsy Collins and other members of the Rubber Band to The World's Greatest Funk Tour, or Greatest Funk On Earth Tour '81, which turned out to be Parliament-Funkadelic's last tour. This is a soundboard recording of the St. Louis performance, and although there is some distortion and hiss, it is still in good quality. The original master had a sloppy order of the songs, so funksoulmusic has remastered it to connect them as much as possible. The album starts with a great opening to "Cosmic Slop" with Pearlett's chorus, and then George and others call Ray from the jam of "Bustin' Loose", and the low voice of "Give Up The Funk" comes in and the album progresses well. Then Bootsy is there, and the chorus of Wind Me Up, and then "Night Of The Thumpasourus Peoples". The second half of "One Nation Under A Groove" turns into a jam that I've never heard before. "Mothership Connection" ends Disc 1 with just the intro. Disc 2 starts with the shocking "Ahh... The Name Is Bootsy, Baby" with Maceo's encouragement. The sound quality is poor in the first half, but it gets better as the performance progresses. Bootsy's spacey bass explodes, livening up St. Louis. "Stretchin' Out" is also jam-like and super funky. And the wonderful "Standing On The Verge Of Getting It On" and the super rare performance "Theme From The Black Hole" from Parliament's "Gloryhallastoopid" are played with the voice of Ray Davies at the perfect timing. It's a great song that reached No. 8 on the R&B charts, and it's a highlight like Bootsy's performance. And the last song "Flash Light" is a danceable arrangement with "Agony Of Defeet" inserted. And as a bonus, here's a live audience recording of the Sweat Band, produced by Bootsy and released on George's label, Uncle Jam! The opening track is the freaky instrumental "Hyper Space," the first track on the album. Bootsy's voice is heard. "We Do It All Day Long," which has a Gap Band feel to it, is likely performed by percussionist Carl Small. Maceo introduces the band, which is thought to include Razor Sharp and Parlett. It's a joy to hear the live version of "Freak To Freak," the most danceable song on the album.
