This time, we will be releasing an ultra-high quality audience recording of the 1997 "DARK DAYS IN PARADISE" live performance as "Unknown Gary Live in the Late 90's"! In an interview after the release of ``BLUES FOR GREENY'' in 1995, Gary announced that ``the next album will not be a blues album,'' and announced that he would put a break on the blues route. Furthermore, after the 1995 tour, when Gary entered the studio with Chris Tangaridis, the fans' feelings suddenly increased, saying, ``The next work will finally be hard rock.'' However, ``DARK DAYS IN PARADISE'', released in 1997, was certainly not blues, but at the same time it was not hard rock like in the 1980s, and it was an album that surprised all fans. The song's direction is centered around vocals and melodies, with the trendy rhythms featured throughout, and the latest technology. Above all, even though it's Gary's work, the guitar element has receded. The style of ``DARK DAYS IN PARADISE'' almost gave the impression of ``a vocalist's solo album,'' and fans were greeted with more than surprise. After the release of the album, Gary began a European tour on June 23, 1997, starting with a performance at "Shepherd's Bush Empire" in London. This work is a recording of the live performance held in Mannheim, Germany on October 3 of the same year at the end of that tour, from a master obtained from overseas through a unique route. From the moment the first song "One Good Reason" begins, you will be under the illusion that it is not actually a broadcast sound source, and the outstanding direct feeling and ease of listening to the performance are truly exquisite. The clear and clear sound that seems to spread out forever, and the cheers and applause from the audience that seem to be mixed in at the moment, create a perfect sense of realism when enjoying a live performance. Video footage from the same tour is known from when they appeared on TV, but this source's superb sound and sense of presence seem to vividly depict the stage scene in the listener's mind, making even the footage seem unnecessary. You will be overwhelmed by the high quality recording! Even the songs that were expressed in the recorded sound on the album were played properly with Gary's guitar in the live performance, and the songs such as "One Fine Day" and "Always There For You" had the high quality melody and deep feeling that they originally had. You can really feel the emotion. ``Like Angels'', which was a standout on the album, is comparable to the famous ballads left by Gary. You'll find that these songs are so good that you'll want them to recreate them with this live sound instead of the typed version. The members supporting Gary at this time are Guy Pratt, who is known for his activities with PINK FLOYD and COVERDALE PAGE, on bass, and Gary Husband, who played in ALLAN HOLDSWORTH, on drums. Both are famous players who have played with the greats of British rock, and the rhythms that come out of their playing are accurate, and at the same time, give you a sense of a real-life feeling that is the opposite of mechanical playing. They infuse their new songs with the liveliness of a live performance, while also offering special takes on classic songs such as "All Your Love" and "Still Got The Blues." Disc 2 contains songs special to fans. "Business As Usual", which made many listeners agree that "this song is on a different level" even though the album received mixed reviews, has a distinct presence in their live performances as well. This 14-minute drama, in which Gary openly describes his life, will renew the endless love that Gary has for him now that he has passed away. Furthermore, in the encore, “Out In The Fields” and “Over The Hills And Far Way” broke the long sealing period and realized live performance for the first time in eight years since the '89 tour. Gary has regained his "performance ability" more than he could hear on the official "LIVE AT MONTREUX" in both songs, and he is showing off a wonderful play that approaches the '80s. Even if you're a hard rock only fan who says, "I haven't listened to Gary since Bruce," you won't be disappointed if you get this work just for these two songs! And at the end, "Parisienne Walkways" performed for 12 minutes as if saying, "If we don't do this, we can't finish" (the long bending that repeats from 3 minutes to 4 minutes is especially amazing!), bringing the 105 minute live to a grand conclusion. I conclude with this. For fans, Gary's work and live performances may have been unremarkable in 1997, but if you listen to these takes, your perspective will change at once! This '97 tour had fewer sound sources than the "A DIFFERENT BEAT" tour due to the evaluation of the album, and in addition to the Montreux Jazz Festival, where the released material was also made into an official work, "DARK DAYS TO THE BLUES" (Power Gate-048) was recorded at a studio live in Germany, and I was in a situation where I couldn't listen to it even if I wanted to. This is probably the first collector's item to be able to enjoy an elegant, ultra-high-quality recording of the live performance at that time, and in a complete version, and I assure you that it is a must-see for fans. Please take this opportunity to enjoy Gary's live performance in 1997, which will make everyone feel like the scales are falling from their eyes!
