Both are pianists of the same age who were born in Vienna, and although their genres are divided into classical and jazz, this is actually a complete recording of a concert that the two best friends held in their hometown of Vienna in professional shots. Joe Zawinul, who disbanded Weather Report in the same year, returned to Austria and began assisting Friedrich Gulda, the shocking results of which can be heard on the live CD recorded in 1988. I think what is shown here is a relatively early stage of this project. The first part begins with Gulda's solo, and after entertaining the audience and making them sigh, Zawinul appears and the duo stage unfolds. In the second part, Zawinul appears first. After a solo performance that astounds the Viennese (presumably classical music fans) audience (it's truly something to see!), Gulda appears again for the final duo stage. Gulda does not only focus on classical music, but also experiments with jazz, and Zawinul is not particular about synths, but also excels in piano playing. And it's a co-starring performance where their free spirits collide. It is a wonderful video that exudes the sublime scent of the pursuit of sublime music throughout the film. The recording time will be 120 minutes.
