Fleetwood Mac sparked a new blues rock movement in Britain in the 1960s. They're considered one of the "Big Three British Blues Rock Bands," but their debut album, "PETER GREEN'S FLEETWOOD MAC," featuring Peter Green, a legendary guitarist on par with Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix, and Jeremy Spencer's bluesy slide guitar, is a historic masterpiece that epitomizes British rock of the 1960s. Recorded in just two days, this album debuted at number four on the UK charts, a raw yet authentic blues album. These albums were released in 1968, a time when demand for mono records was still strong in Britain, and a year when various artists released releases in both mono and stereo formats. In fact, these two albums were also released as mono LPs. In fact, you could even say that mono is the dominant sound (much like Clapton's "Blues Breakers"). However, officially, this mono mix has been neglected to this day. Only the stereo mix has ever been reissued, and it's likely that it will never be released again. However, as I'll explain later, the true beauty of Fleetwood Mac's early blues-rock can only be appreciated in mono! This time, we're reissuing the mono versions of Fleetwood Mac's first two albums, based on the original mono UK releases. While the current CD stereo mixes, especially the debut album "Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac," are clear, the stereo separation is too good, making the basic band arrangement of Mac's time—two guitars, bass, and drums—sound out of place on some songs, obscuring the interplay between the various instruments that is so essential to blues music. The mono versions, on the other hand, offer a unified sound, allowing the band's energy and power to be conveyed with incredible force, thanks to the studio recordings that were the album's greatest draw. The intertwining sounds of Peter Green's stunning guitar playing, inspired by blues legends like B.B. King and Albert King, and Jeremy Spencer's explosive slide guitar, directly descended from Elmore James, are clearly too different in stereo. From the opening track, "My Heart Beat Like a Hammer," the entire band roars, as if to declare, "No need for psychedelia, this is our era!" That energy is especially pronounced in mono. The mellow sound of "I Loved Another Woman" and the intimacy of Jeremy Spencer and Peter Green's separate solos on "Hellhound On My Trail" and "The World Keep On Turning" are even more striking in mono. Finally, the rhythm section of John McVie and Mick Fleetwood bring these two powerful personalities together into a cohesive band sound. What makes this album groundbreaking is the overwhelming rawness and persuasiveness achieved through the unadorned sound of a single studio recording. It also fully captures the energy of a group of geniuses, all around 20 years old, making their debut. This is the kind of straightforward, powerful performance that could be called second-generation British blues. And it's not a blues imitator, it's genuine blues rock. This commemorative mono mix of this memorable first album, capturing the intense energy of this fledgling band, will be a groundbreaking release in a world where stereo is the only medium available. Naturally, the only way to hear this mono mix is to acquire the original UK vintage LP, but at the same time, it has become a pricey commodity. Even if you could obtain it, the scratch noise characteristic of vintage LPs is unavoidable. This CD release thoroughly eliminates this issue, preserving the mono flavor of the original LP. This is genuine blues rock led by Peter Green, and a historic masterpiece that represents 1960s British rock. It's no exaggeration to say that this is the first release of this legendary band's first album in its original form! This 1960s British rock masterpiece, Fleetwood Mac's debut album, has been meticulously transferred from the original mono UK pressing! While it was released in a mono mix era, only the stereo mix has been officially released, making it an exclusive experience! Experience the unrestrained blues-rock guitar playing of legendary guitarist Peter Green, whose sound was described by Eric Clapton as "unique and authentic."
