An artist's next album is often described as an "extension of the previous one," and Fleetwood Mac's classic 1960s second album, "Mr. Wonderful," is essentially the same. Like its predecessor, it's filled with classic blues and blues-rock. However, the addition of a brass section and piano adds a more soulful touch. Peter Green's collaboration with manager Clifford Adams also improved the songwriting. The reason this second album rivals their renowned first album is simply because it successfully captures the band's energy at the time. And above all, it's filled with respect for blues pioneers like B.B. King. In other words, "Mr. Wonderful" captures the band's energy, which couldn't be contained in their first album, in the form of a second album. Compared to the first album, which had a very raw and direct sound, the recording technique seems more ingenious, but the band's fiery energy remains unchanged. Christine McVie (then with the surname Perfect), who first recorded with Fleetwood Mac on this album and would go on to become an indispensable member, played piano, but at this point, she was merely a supporting figure. This was because the band's energy was so intense on this album. Of course, an expanded stereo mix of the second album was also officially released, and this remains the standard to this day. However, the mono mix LP has long been neglected. When this album was released in August 1968, mono was still in high demand, and mono mixes were commonly produced. However, like the debut album, the mono version of "MR. WONDERFUL" has never been reissued on CD or via subscription services. It's likely that it will never be released again. Therefore, along with the first album, the CD version of the original UK mono LP has now been released on CD. Not to be outdone by their first album, this album is a raw, live studio album, composed entirely of one-take recordings. In fact, they even brought the brass section and Christine into the studio and recorded it all together in one go. It may be hard to imagine now, since the advent of Pro Tools has made building sounds in the studio commonplace, but this album is a compilation of passionate results, recorded live in the studio with not only the band but also the supporting cast. That's why the listening experience of capturing the energy and rawness of their sound in mono, an extension of their first album, is exceptional. Even more than their previous album, they simply sang and recorded their beloved blues. The piano and horns are merely accompaniments, and the band's presence is intense on this album as well. Thus, this album continues with a powerful, engrossing performance, starting with "Stop Messin' Round," but the addition of the horns makes slow blues tracks like "Love That Burns" sound even more compelling when played louder on speakers. Of course, for this CD release, all scratch noise was thoroughly removed, so even at full volume, there's absolutely no noise! Even more noteworthy is the way Peter Green and Jeremy Spencer's guitars resonate more ruggedly and vividly than in stereo, a quality that's only possible in mono. This quality is also something we highly recommend listening to at full volume through your speakers. The straightforward passion of the first album and the confident performance of the second. Both albums deliver the full power of mono that can't be experienced in stereo, all while being released on CD for the first time in crystal clear clarity! Naturally, the original UK mono releases now command premium prices and are difficult to obtain. This is a masterpiece that, alongside the debut album, is a defining '60s British rock album, hard to believe it was created by a young man in his early twenties. Enjoy it in the mono mix you'll never hear anywhere else! Fleetwood Mac's second album, another '60s British rock classic, has been meticulously transferred from the original UK mono release! This album has only ever been officially reissued in stereo, so you'll only get to hear it here! The tenacious, authentic British blues rock of this era is best heard in mono! The album is famous for its impactful cover art, but the album's contents have also evolved with the addition of brass and keyboards, adding soulful elements to the mix. Enjoy this rare mono mix!
