In 1980, Fleetwood Mac was at the height of their power with three consecutive hits: "Fantastic Mac," "Rumors," and "Tusk." This soundboard album will transport you to their live performances. This work was recorded at the Melbourne performance on March 11, 1980. This is a direct soundboard recording. 1980 was a memorable heyday, marked by the milestone Japan tour. Meanwhile, live albums dominated Japan recordings and the official "LIVE" album, while full recordings of overseas performances were lacking. Let's start by taking a bird's-eye view of their activities at the time and exploring the position of this album. 1979 ("TUSK" released October 12th) October 26th - December 16th: North America #1 (32 shows) 1980 February 3rd - 17th: Japan (10 shows) ← ※ YOKOHAMA 1980 etc. February 21st - March 22nd: Oceania (17 shows) ← ★COCO★ March 27th - 29th: Hawaii (3 shows) April 30th - May 24th: North America #2 (16 shows) June 1st - 27th: Europe (16 shows) August 5th - September 1st: North America #3 (18 shows) ("LIVE" released December 5th) This is FLEETWOOD MAC during their "TUSK" era. While focusing on three North American continental tours, the first half of 1980 also saw them embark on a Pacific Rim leg (Japan → Oceania → Hawaii). This Melbourne performance was the 11th performance of the "Oceania" concert. This work, recorded at such a show, is a raw soundboard with unprocessed performance sounds ringing in your head. While there are various types of "soundboards," this one is clearly a direct-to-mixboard system. The cheers whisper far and wide...or rather, they can only be felt by listening carefully with headphones. There's no trace of effect or balance adjustment on each instrument, and the liveliness of the instruments being played right there is intense. The mix balance, which is altered for the venue PA, is also rough. Furthermore, the sound image, with its involuntary feedback and slight hiss, conveys the reality of the show as it unfolds. In fact, the sound image is more like a studio rehearsal than a large-venue concert, but that doesn't explain the intensity of the performance. The beat, which somehow manages to control the rising tension, emanates a fierce groove, and the aggressive shouts that would be impossible without a large audience in front of them are also extremely hot. Only such live performances rise into the brain with shoes on... It's an immersive feeling. Such a direct-connected soundboard depicts a full show that seems to have concentrated and reduced three big hits. It is a selection that is similar but not identical to the traditional official work "LIVE" and the Japanese performance soundboard "YOKOHAMA 1980 SOUNDBOARD," so let's compare and organize it here. Rumors (7 songs) The Chain (★) / Don't Stop / Dreams / Oh Daddy (★★) / You Make Loving Fun (★) / Go Your Own Way / Songbird (★) Others (12 songs) Fantastic Mac: Say You Love Me / Rhiannon / Landslide / I'm So Afraid / World Turning (★★) Tusk: What Makes You Think You're The One (★) / Sara / Not That Funny / Tusk (★*) / Angel (★) / Sisters of the Moon (★) Others: Oh Well *Note: Songs marked with a "★" are not available on the official traditional album "LIVE." Songs marked with a "★★" are not even on the deluxe edition of "LIVE." Songs marked with a "*" are not included on the classic Japan tour album "YOKOHAMA 1980 SOUNDBOARD." Despite the complete absence of the roaring cheers that must have swirled around the venue, the energy of the band's heyday is clearly apparent. This leaked soundboard album lets you experience the raw, passionate live performance. It was introduced by the Uxbridge label because it doesn't reach the same quality as the official masterpiece "LIVE," but for soundboard enthusiasts, this raw feel is what makes it so appealing. This is a masterpiece of a newly discovered live album. It's a direct-connected soundboard recording of the "March 11, 1980 Melbourne performance." This raw soundboard lets you hear the unprocessed performance in your head, allowing you to immerse yourself in the live performance without the presence of loud cheers. This is a pleasure album that will have you immersed in a full show that condenses the hit era, including "Tusk," a track not included in the Japanese performance masterpiece "YOKOHAMA 1980 SOUNDBOARD."
