The Farm On March 14, 1985, Taper, who made the audience recording at the LA Forum a great success, also recorded at the Pacific Amphitheater in Costa Mesa two days later. After all, he must have gained confidence from successfully recording with such great quality at the LA Forum, and this recording has a breathtaking sound image that is so close that even if you were to deceive it as a "sound board" in the LP era, you would not be able to take it seriously. In particular, the sound pressure of the performances, including Jimmy, was very powerful in the first half of the live performance, and the guitar play that was in great form at the LA Forum was also full of momentum on this day. The vivid power of the audience, which is different from the sound board, is truly exceptional, and although The Farm tends to release only PA-out sound boards that lack realism, audience recordings with good sound quality are actually more valuable. The fact that the venue was smaller than the LA Forum was also a major factor in realizing the amazing sound image. Jimmy was also at full throttle here. It's so fascinating to listen to Jimmy's energetic performance and playing, a complete change from the 80's-like production of the first album named after the group. It's as if you can feel how happy Jimmy is to be able to shake off the shadows of ZEP and go on stage with a new group with his reliable partner Paul Rodgers. Furthermore, the audience recording with a close sound image shows its true value in "Radioactive," which was also the latest single at the time. Here, you can clearly hear even the acoustic rhythm guitar played by Paul Rodgers. It even captured the ensemble of the farm, which is often overlooked. It is also from "Radioactive" that Rogers' vocals, which had been pushed down by the volume of the performance until then, begin to compete, and it captures his imposing singing and strength that does not waver at all. That's why the pitch, which was high at the time of release, was a flaw, but it was adjusted properly. And because they're a new group with only one album under their belt, cover songs are included, which is typical of this period, but the most surprising selection is a cover of the oldie "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'". It's a song selection that will appeal to Americans, but Rogers' singing is simply stunning. The Firm hadn't released any rare recordings for a long time, but this time they've released two amazing audience albums that capture their live shows at their peak. The sound quality is truly amazing! Pacific Amphitheater, Costa Mesa, CA, USA 16th March 1985 TRULY PERFECT SOUND Disc:1 (58:05) 1. Closer 2. City Sirens 3. Make or Break 4. The Morning After 5.
