EUROPE in 1987, when "THE FINAL COUNTDOWN" took the world by storm. This official video, which lets you meet them at that peak, has been reissued in the highest quality ever. There are two types of footage included in this work. It is a two-disc set with "THE FINAL COUNTDOWN WORLD TOUR" on disc 1 and "IN AMERICA" on disc 2. The similarly titled "THE FINAL COUNTDOWN TOUR 1986" has also been officially released on DVD, but these are completely different. These two works were produced after Kee Marcelo joined the band. Both are video works featuring live performances, so let's start by organizing each period in terms of the tour dates. ●1986 April 29th - May 26th: Sweden (19 shows) ← *Official DVD "THE FINAL COUNTDOWN" released on May 26th ・September 6th - 13th: Japan (6 shows) ・September 26th - October 14th: Northern Europe + West Germany (13 shows) 《October: Norum leaves the band → Marcelo joins》 ・November 22nd: Appearance on "PETER'S POP SHOW" ●1987 January 24th - March 12th: Europe #1 (33 shows) ← ★Disc 1★ ・April 15th - May 17th: North America (23 shows) ← ★Disc 2★ ・July 4th + 6th / September 5th / November 7th: Europe #2 (4 shows) This is the whole picture of their peak period. The official DVD "THE FINAL COUNTDOWN TOUR 1986" was released when John Norum was still in the band, just before the album was released. In contrast, this work is footage from 1987, when the album was a huge hit and swept the world. Let's take a closer look at each video. [Disc 1: Live work "THE FINAL COUNTDOWN WORLD TOUR"] First up is the royal live video work. It is a professional shot of the "February 23, 1987 London performance", which is the 22nd performance of "Europe #1" on the above schedule. The quality is official without question. Of course, it seems natural since the original is official footage, but this is different from a simple video transcription. At the time, it was digitized by a specialized overseas manufacturer using a mint quality laser disc released only in Japan. Our shop has reproduced many Japanese laser discs, and this is the latest work that brings together that know-how. In fact, the quality of this work is overwhelming, and the visual beauty even surpasses the real official DVD "THE FINAL COUNTDOWN TOUR 1986". The quality of the DVD exceeds that of the official DVD, depicting the shining show at the peak of their career. The set is different from the official DVD from the Norum era, and includes "Danger On The Track," "Dreamer," "On Broken Wings," and "Dance The Night Away," which were not seen on the Norum DVD. But the performance of the band is even better. Norum is the guitarist of EUROPE in terms of popularity and fame, but Kee Marcelo, who joined in his place, is also a real genius. The sound is neat and the fingering is beautiful. Although he does not have his own original songs, his superb performance already hints at the next album "OUT OF THIS WORLD," and the jam that starts with the guitar solo explodes. The guitar, which is elegant and classical but also full of tears, is perfectly synchronized with the EUROPE sound, embodying the ideal of Nordic metal. It is no wonder that many fans still say that "he was better than Norum." Furthermore, it is interesting to see his growth as a professional in the previous songs. With a full-scale a cappella arrangement of "Dreamer," a funny little scene about a complaint phone call on "Rock The Night," and "Dance The Night Away," which starts playing after a slacker, they are much more used to the stage than on "THE FINAL COUNTDOWN TOUR 1986." It is clear that they have grown into a band that is not just a band that plays good songs, but one that gets the audience excited and entertains them. [Disc 2: Road Movie "IN AMERICA"] The next disc, Disc 2, is a documentary film "IN AMERICA" that closely follows their road life. It features live footage from their first North American tour, the fifth performance on April 22, 1987 in Los Angeles, and takes you on a journey that accompanies them as they travel and backstage. Of course, this is also the finest official quality reprinted from the Japanese laser disc. Of course, since it is a Japanese version, it comes with Japanese subtitles. The members' comments and interviews with the fans are vividly conveyed. The comments are so real and amazing. "When I was a kid, I wanted to be a carpenter. But before I knew it, I was a rock star," he said, and muttered, "I don't feel like I'm savoring my success." It's dazzling to see the real faces of these mid-20s who are excited by their unprecedented success but are trying to accept reality. The atmosphere around them is also wonderful. On the radio, they are broadcasting "Good morning Detroit! Europe is coming tonight. They're going to take over the US!" and are introduced as "the biggest stars since ABBA! The five members have proven that even good-looking people can do heavy metal." But the fans are even better. For example, in an interview outside the venue, a couple who had come to see EUROPE together started fighting. When her boyfriend, who is a real rock fanatic, said in a critic-like manner, "I don't think we need an opening act," she retorted with a fierce anger, "They were better than Bon Jovi. We don't need an opening act!" A group of female fans also innocently get excited, saying, "You're all so cute, I love you all! You have such beautiful eyes!" The members are half happy and half bitter about the idol popularity, which is also interesting. In the Q&A corner of the radio appearance, they have live conversations with fans. When they say, "You and everyone else are gorgeous!", Joey responds, "Thanks. Do you listen to our music?" When asked, "Is Tempest your real name?", he is troubled and evades the question, saying, "It's my dressing room name. It's my name, anyway" (his real name is Rolf Magnus Joakim Larsson). The fans' reactions are what caused Norum to leave the band, and you can really feel the excitement. There are many other highlights. Traveling on a private jet, shaving creaming each other in the dressing room, the members getting homesick, singing "The Final Countdown" in Swedish, and being depressed by the harsh criticism in a magazine, saying "I think this reporter is a folk fan. He wandered into our show." The glamorous yet simple Nordic youth is very EUROPE-like. The conversation with the audience who didn't go home even in the rain is also good. "It's been a while since I went to see Queen," "That was at the Stockholm concert," "Everyone started going home (at QUEEN)," "We played a song about loving the rain, but the fans were against us," "That's why we're amazing," etc. They are young people who love rock, and even though they try to feel that they are getting closer to their heroes, they don't feel anything. This is a fun video work that shows their true faces. A magnificent pro-shot live performance from their golden age and a road movie that travels with them. Because the era is too strong, it is not possible to reprint it officially, but this is the brilliance of the heyday. This is a two-disc set that records the actual record with the highest quality ever. Hammersmith Odeon, London, UK 23rd February 1987 PRO-SHOT Wiltern Theatre, Los Angeles, CA.
