From the 1981 Eric Clapton Japan Tour, the final day of the performance at the Tokyo Shinjuku Welfare Pension Hall Large Hall is completely recorded with the highest level stereo audience recording. The sound source of this day did not see the light of day for a long time, but in 2009, our store discovered an excellent master and released it under the title "Final Show" from the Tricorn label, and in 2010, we released an even better master at our store. It was discovered by the same label and released under the title "Wonderful Farewell". The 2010 master had a clear sound and a well-contained drum sound, making it very easy to listen to, but the master used for this edition has a higher quality than that. This is also our store's original master, which is appearing for the first time. It has been 31 years since the performance. When it was unearthed, I couldn't believe that such a great master was sleeping there. This sound quality surpasses all of the previously released records and can be declared to be the best of the day. I think there are many fans who have the already released version, but if you are a fan, please check out this highest sound quality. Since it was Chiakiraku on this day, Clapton and the band seemed to be in a "launch" kind of mood, and an interesting attempt will be made towards the end. Cocaine starts off with a jam-like intro, similar to arrangements made after 1985, and it's nice to see the audience clap along. There is also a part in the middle of the song (in the middle of the second chorus) where the audience gets excited, but according to an eyewitness on the day, this was caused by the tour staff being suspended in the air with wires and appearing on stage. It seems that Clapton was grinning while playing while watching it, but this was the only day he did something like this during his long performance in Japan. And when Clapton finishes his solo part, he announces, "Big applause for Eddie!" (It was probably the staff member named Eddie who was suspended in the air). Therefore, this take is not very tight. The vocals in Layla also have a somewhat dangerous feel to them, and the solo at the end is played with a slide, and then returns to a single-note solo. It can be said that it is very rare for Clapton to play slide with regular tuning. During the member introductions before the encore, a staff member or someone might add a DJ-style comment. In the encore of this day, a special slow blues Sad Sad Day is being played, but after playing for about 2 minutes, the performance suddenly stops and Further On Up The Road is started. And at the end, they play a medley of Bright Light, Big City, which is a rare development. Since rare productions occur frequently, I thought it was a festival mood, but that is not the case, and the fact that tight performances are presented throughout the entire volume makes you feel Clapton's sincerity towards the stage. Among them, Ramblin’ On My Mind ~ Have You Ever Loved A Woman is a performance that requires both singing and guitar. You can also enjoy the deep singing of a three-part chorus composed entirely of male members, the only Clapton band of all time. Throughout the entire story, this day was a very rare and interesting record.
