Eric Clapton's 1997 Japan tour, Nagoya performance's superb sound source "Nagoya 1997" will be released on CD from the original DAT master, but we have prepared an item that will allow you to enjoy "Nagoya 1997" even more! This is a complete recording of the Nippon Budokan performance on the fourth day of the Japan tour, eight days before the Nagoya performance, with a good audience shot. This tour was held over 19 days, including regional cities such as Fukuoka, Osaka, Hiroshima, and Nagoya, with a total of 13 performances. The dates were as follows.・October 13th to 31st: Japan Tour 13th, 14th, 16th: Nippon Budokan 17th: Nippon Budokan ←★Here★ 20th: Marine Messe Fukuoka 21st, 22nd: Osakajo Hall 24th: Green Arena Hiroshima 25th: Rainbow Hall Nagoya 27th, 28th, 30th, 31st: Nippon Budokan I think this was the timing when the tour, which started at Budokan, Clapton's favorite venue, was finally getting into full swing. The shooting angle was from the front, slightly to the right of the first floor stands of the Budokan, and the footage was taken in a good environment with no obstacles in front. The camera was unstable in the opening number, and the footage was quite unstable, but it finally stabilized towards the end. After that, the shooting was stable and stress-free. The zoomed-in shot captures Clapton's upper body, and his facial expression is clearly visible. Starting with a seated acoustic set, he switched to an electric guitar and performed new songs, then moved to a standing set and gradually heated up the stage. The Stratocaster he used was a hot topic on this tour. It was a custom model called "Gold Leaf" with 23K gold plating. It was a guitar given to Clapton by Fender to commemorate the 30th anniversary of his professional career, and its dazzling shine also adorns this stage. Clapton only used this guitar that year. In that sense, this video can be said to be a highly documentary. Clapton was in top form that day. He played a tremendous solo in the afterword of I Shot the Sheriff, which reached the maximum tension, and the solo in the middle of Old Love was also full of raging phrases. This alone is worth seeing. The camera follows only Clapton from start to finish, and in Old Love, after his solo play, he somehow goes offstage and changes from a gold leaf to a charcoal gray Strat (although it doesn't look like the strings are broken). The audio is also recorded with very good sound quality, and the quality is high enough to be in the top class as an audience shot. Since the set list was the same as the Nagoya performance released on CD, if you listen to the CD and watch this video, the image of the day will come back to life more realistically. The topic of the day was that this performance was exactly 100 times since Clapton's first visit to Japan on October 31, 1974, so a ceremony was held before the encore, and a beautiful woman in Japanese clothing presented Clapton with a bouquet of flowers. Clapton gives a speech after receiving it, but it is funny that he doesn't remember the year of his first visit to Japan, and asks Udo, the president of Udo Music Office next to him, "Was it 1972?" (I want to say, "He was still in the middle of his drug addiction that year!"). And now, in gratitude for the support on the Japan tour so far, Clapton will present a bouquet to President Udo. This video, which captures the special performance only for this day in detail, is very valuable. Along with "Nagoya 1997", which captured the 1997 Japan tour with the best sound quality, we hope you will also get this edition as the best record of this tour.
