From the first leg of Clapton's U.S. stadium tour, in which he made a comeback after three years of drug addiction, he recorded the last stage of the Memphis performance on July 28th in a completely recorded monaural audience master and raw recording for the first time in Japan.・This is a 3-disc press CD title recorded from Generation Soundboard Master. The soundboard source already exists as a monaural source with an incompletely recorded PA output, but this time, in addition to being re-recorded from the master tape of the same source, there is also high-quality mastering. We have significantly improved the sound quality. Once again, you will be surprised by the freshness of the sound unique to the sound board. And above all, what I would like you to pay attention to is Audience Master, which will be released for the first time. This is an original master that I acquired myself this time, using a first generation cassette master that I received directly from a friend of the recorder. It was mastered to an upgraded level and released with great pride. The result is a clear, well-balanced sound image that can withstand modern listening levels, while still retaining traces of the cassette recording era. If you're a fan, you'll definitely be satisfied with the quality. This audience master contains parts that could not be heard on the sound board, which was only recorded for 60 minutes, and you can know the whole story of this day for the first time. Although it is a complete recording, the sound quality of the first two minutes of I Shot The Sheriff and Blues Power from 0:04 to 5:42 is slightly inferior due to the master tape, and between songs of I Shot The Sheriff 10:18, It had some flaws, such as a tape change between songs in Crossroads 6:44, and missing parts from Badge 7:44 to the end, but the gaps between songs have no effect on the performance, so they can be left as is. , Badge's missing parts are filled in from the sound board master as smoothly as possible, achieving a true complete recording. It was called the "461 Ocean Boulevard" tour, and the rare number I Can't Hold Out was played on this tour, but it was played with a single note different from the studio version, which mainly consisted of slide play. , Crossroads is played with a light shuffle rhythm, and Let It Rain shows an eye-opening fast play, making it an attractive piece. In the after-play of I Shot The Sheriff, which can be heard for the first time, the audience is captured with a very sharp and edgy phrase that excites the audience. In addition, in Crossroads and Blues Power, inspired by the phrases of second guitarist George Terry, thrilling scenes unique to this period are captured, such as attacking with twin leads. It is also valuable that the foreword by Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band's Legs Larry Smith, who served as Clapton's introduction MC at the beginning, is completely recorded. I only found out after listening to this album that Little Queenie calls Smith to the stage and lets him take a solo (Smith is probably playing the mini guitar used in the previous story). There are three missing songs: Tell The Truth, I Shot The Sheriff, and Layla, and by coupling the soundboard master whose encore was not recorded with the audience master, which has been completely recorded from the previous episode, you can completely understand this performance. This is an attractive set. It can be said to be a typical performance document, typical of the 1974 tour. This performance is said to have been extravagant today, with Foghat and Lynyrd Skynyrd as the opening acts. Listen to this album and fully enjoy the atmosphere of that time.
