An astonishing upgrade master for the final day of the 2022 American tour has arrived! Eric Clapton's American tour took place in September last year. The final leg of the tour, the second day of the Madison Square Garden performance in New York on September 19th, was brought to us by a heavyweight taper living in the UK! Our shop released the sound source of this day as "Madison Square Garden 2022: Original Masters" on the original master from the Uxbridge label last year, but this master was completely recorded with a wonderful sound quality that far surpasses it. Of course, it is far superior to the masters on the Internet. And this time, this master will be released exclusively by our shop. The sound quality is very clean, clear and well balanced, and the musical tones are very natural and easy to listen to, as is evident in the drum sound. Now that the Japanese performance has ended, when I listen to it again, I can see that it was a fresh set list and only for this tour. The content of the performance will be described in the next section, but the final leg of the American tour also included a surprise and was very fulfilling. Please listen to this work by Upgrade Master. As with the Japanese performance, the set list was full of surprises! The first surprise of this tour was that even at the final stage, they played God Save The Queen, a tribute to Queen Elizabeth II, at the beginning. In the Japanese performance, it was meant to be a tribute to Jeff Beck, but in this tour, it was Queen Elizabeth, who died on September 9th. Moreover, this British national anthem was performed by Clapton alone on electric guitar at the beginning of the tour, but here it is performed by a full band. It means that it was completely established as a single song. This opening was continued throughout the tour, and it was developed into a band performance. After all, the feelings for the Queen were strong. And the actual opening was Tearing Us Apart. This pattern was the first time, and this is also a continuation of the surprise, but the set list itself seems to have been decided by Clapton himself, including the surprise, and a set that he could play with confidence before the tour. Here are the dates for this tour: September 8th: Columbus, Ohio September 10th: Detroit, Michigan September 12th and 13th: Chicago, Illinois September 16th: Boston, Massachusetts September 18th and 19th: New York, New York ←★Here★ Considering Clapton's age and physical condition, it was inevitable that the tour was short, with only seven performances, just like the Japan tour, but the fact that he completed all the performances with this set list shows Clapton's strong will. There was the nostalgic River of Tears (1998 work), and After Midnight, which was performed for the first time in an electric sitting set as a regular on the tour, so it seems that he was careful not to fall into a rut. The solo in the closing part of I Shot the Sheriff is also brilliant. Another point to note is that the blues song that opened the sitting set in the middle of the show was changed "daily". On the second day of this work, they play a super rare number called Muddy Waters' Country Boy (also known as I'm A Country Boy, not the Albert Lee song of the same name). This is the first time it has been played in the form of a sitting set, and it is probably not the first repertoire in Clapton's career. The song features Doyle Bramhall's deep blues harp and Paul Carrack's Hammond solo. Clapton changed to a hollow body vintage guitar called Gibson L-5 to create an atmosphere for this number and After Midnight. Because of this high sound quality, you can enjoy this tone that is different from the Strat. In addition, the surprise continued with Tears In Heaven, which was played with this sitting set. It was also shown at the Japan performance, but in the middle, Paul Carrack plays Procol Harum's "A Whiter Shade of Blue" on the organ. This is thought to have been instructed by Clapton as a tribute to his former band member and close friend Gary Brooker, who died last February. The origin of the arrangement for the Japan performance was on this tour. The surprises continued towards the end. In the long blues corner, where Little Queen Of Spades has been played for many years since 2006, Clapton brought out The Sky Is Crying for the first time in 38 years since the European tour in 1984. However, instead of slide play as in the original version, Clapton played a solo with a single note. You might think, "What, the performance is the same as usual, but the lyrics have just been changed to The Sky Is Crying," but when you look at the set list like this, you'll notice one thing. As with the Japanese performance, Clapton may have put together this set list to look back on his career, which is still active and healthy, and to remember the late admirers and friends who made it possible. At the beginning of the concert, God Save The Queen is for Queen Elizabeth, I'm Your Hoochie Coochie Man and Country Boy are for Muddy Waters, I Shot The Sheriff is for Bob Marley, After Midnight and Cocaine are for J.J. Cale, Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out are for Bessie Smith, Tears in Heaven is for his son Conor and Gary Brooker, Badge is for George Harrison, Crossroads Blues is for Robert Johnson, The Sky Is Crying is for Elmore James, and High Time We Went is for Joe Cocker. I feel that Clapton is now on stage with a humble feeling that he is who he is today thanks to so many great deceased people. As was the case in the Japanese concerts, even if he has become a legendary artist like him, he still remembers the deceased and has a heart of gratitude, which may be what makes Clapton great. And High Time We Went came back for the encore. Jimmie Vaughan, who was the opening act at this performance, participated in the encore as a special guest. Of course, Vaughan features a solo, so you can enjoy a friendly solo performance with Clapton. Clapton completed a short but impressive tour. I would like to continue to keep an eye on Clapton's activities, which continue to intrigue me like this.
