The highlight of the 2024 Euro Tour, the familiar Royal Albert Hall in London, the first and second days of the consecutive performances on May 20th and 21st, are coupled in full recording from the digital audience master released by Taper. First of all, the attractive thing about this tour is that the set list has been significantly changed from the previous year, and many rare numbers are set in from newly written new songs, which is a delight for fans of Clapton, who has not changed his set list much in recent years. And it was great to see him looking healthy even at the age of 79. And since he was playing at his home ground, the Royal Albert Hall, he played well from start to finish, his vocals were on point, and the set started with an instrumental number called "Blue Dust," which was also a hot topic at the Liverpool concert. Incidentally, this song was dedicated to Beck, who passed away the previous year, and is a variation of "Blue Rainbow," which was first performed at the Japan concert in April of the same year. Starting with a song that had not even been recorded yet, Clapton's enthusiasm was also felt. Then, before the third song, "Hoochie Coochie Man," he announced that John McLaughlin was attending the concert and called for applause. And the last new song of the first half of the electric set, "Prayer of a Child," was a new version of the instrumental song "Voice of a Child," which was played at the venue during the charity concert for Gaza the previous year, with new lyrics added. The acoustic set that followed also changed each day, with "Driftin' Blues" on the first day, and "Golden Ring" from "BACKLESS" in an acoustic arrangement instead on the second day. After returning to the electric set, "Presence of the Lord" was played on the first day, and "You Were There" on the second day, with subtle shifts in this area as well. As a special production on both days, Lyle Mays' "Close To Home" was played by Nathan East as a prologue before "Cocaine", and Andy Fairweather Low, who was the opening act on the second day, joined in for the encore "Before You Accuse Me". In any case, the whole set is worth listening to, so fans should have it together with the performances on the 3rd and 4th days.
