Complete recording of 1990 Orchestra Night has surfaced! A complete recording of "Orchestra Night" from Eric Clapton's 1990 Royal Albert Hall concert, one of the peak years of his career, has surfaced! It was recorded on February 8, 1990, the final chapter of the previous year's "18 Nights," which led to the record-breaking 1991 "24 Nights"! The series of consecutive shows from 1990 and 1991 was definitively released two years ago as "DEFINITIVE 24 NIGHTS," an expanded version of the 1991 release. However, that was compiled from the best takes from multiple shows. Therefore, while the setlist for this "Orchestra Night" is the same as the full show, it is actually a compilation of excerpts from multiple shows, not a complete recording of a single show. This release focuses on the February 8th performance, with three songs interspersed with footage from March 5th, 1991, providing a realistic look at the "Orchestra Night" experience. (The band failed to capture these three songs in 1990, so they retried the following year with these tracks.) While the shots are audience shots and somewhat out of focus, they are shot almost directly in front of the stage, from the third-floor stands. While the camera struggles to settle on a specific angle at the beginning, once the song begins, it zooms in on Clapton, capturing his entire body in excellent quality (though there are still images inserted seamlessly into the footage). The camera occasionally pans to other members and the orchestra, providing a varied and engaging composition. The footage spans everything from the band's entrance, led by the orchestral version of "Layla," to the final scene, where Clapton and the late conductor Michael Kamen bow to the audience, arm in arm. Clapton's appearance, often seen in photos from this period, is a white shirt, a black Versace suit, and his signature black Stratocaster guitar, held up by a glittery Versace-designed guitar strap. In 1990, Clapton had neck-length hair, while in 1991, it was even longer, reaching down to his shoulders. Both are stunning. The audio is excellent, and the synchronized dubbing from the stereo audience recording ensures trouble-free enjoyment. This is a memorable and authentic recording of the legendary "Orchestra Night" stage, a huge success in Clapton's career, and a must-have addition to your collection. The unexpected setlist for Orchestra Night! Let's take a look at the dates and previously released titles from 1990's "18 Nights," the first year of a two-year run that broke the UK's box office record books. (We've also included previously released titles from our own recording.)・January 14th, 15th, and 16th, 1990: Birmingham performance (with a four-piece band) arranged as a warm-up for "24 Nights" ・January 18th, 1990: First night of 18 Nights, with a four-piece band (hereafter referred to as "four-piece band") 19th and 20th: 18th-20th: Recorded as "Pricely Gift" 22nd, 23rd, and 24th: Recorded as "Royal Albert Hall 1990 6th Night: Multitrack Master" ・January 26th to February 1st, 1990: 13-piece band (a large band format including percussion, backing vocals, second guitar, and horn section) 30th, 31st, and February 1st: Recorded as "Thirteen Piece Nights" ・February 3rd, 4th, and 5th, 1990: Blues Night (a major blues session featuring senior and junior bluesmen) Recorded as "Blues "FIRST ORCHESTRA NIGHT" - February 8, 1990: Orchestra Night (stage with a full orchestra backing the conductor) Recording title: "FIRST ORCHESTRA NIGHT" This work, 9th and 10th, was a total of 18 performances, including 6 four-piece performances, 6 13-piece performances, 3 blues nights, and 3 orchestra nights. Our shop has released high-quality sound sources for all four bands from both soundboard and audience sources using the Beano and Uxbridge labels, but this is the first complete audience shot footage. Compared to the previous three stage formats, which featured many songs from the new album "JOURNEYMAN," only "Hard Times" and "Old Love" were featured from that album. However, the highlights are the soundtrack track "Edge of Darkness," which was designed with the orchestra in mind, and the 30-minute performance of "Concerto for Electric Guitar," which Michael Kamen wrote specifically for this stage. It's also fascinating to see how Clapton's signature songs blend seamlessly with the orchestra. It's also moving to see his Cream-era tracks performed with an orchestra. If Robert Johnson were listening to Crossroads' performance in the afterlife, he might have remarked, "How magnificent they made that song. I never imagined it would be like that." Bell Bottom Blues also elevates to an even more beautiful performance with the orchestra. In the middle solo of Sunshine of Your Love, Clapton blatantly plays the Blue Moon phrase. This is where we finally reveal the secret behind the original Cream version. We exclusively obtained this footage before it was uploaded online, allowing you to enjoy it in a clearer, more vivid way.
