For fans who have been thinking, "What has Clapton been doing lately? He hasn't been doing anything," Clapton appeared at a festival in Connecticut just last week, and showed off his energetic side. This is a wonderful video that captures the performance in a close-up shot from the front row. Clapton's old days are great, but I would like you to experience the taste of his playing, which has become the height of old age and apathy. This is one example of a rock artist who has aged well. He is a picky musician, and in addition to the skilled regular members, this band has brought back J.J. Cale's ally keyboardist Walt Richmond, and on the drums he has brought in Sonny Amory, who is highly regarded in the funk and jazz world. This is the first time they have performed together in Japan. Furthermore, Clapton, who hasn't changed his set list for years, has changed it! He is playing The Core, which is his first set-in since 1978. Doyle Bramhall takes over as second vocalist, formerly performed by Marcy Levy. This number is a great song, even though it's a little late to say it now! And Emory is great on the Dominos number Got To Get Better In A Little While. This alone is worth listening to, but for the encore, Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi, who performed before Clapton's set, join in as a married couple. This gorgeous stage is perfectly captured with close-up shots from start to finish. The sound is also perfect because of this great position. If you are a long-time Clapton fan, you won't want to miss this video. Clapton shows off his impressive play with a variety of sets, including Cream's hard numbers, blues, and ballads. This performance is enough to make you look forward to his upcoming German and Hyde Park performances in July. Check it out! Live at the Greenwich Town Party, Greenwich, CT.
