During Clapton's 1990 Journeyman US Tour, George appeared at the Los Angeles Forum on May 1st, and this is a complete recording of the performance in ultra-high quality stereo audience recording. This title, released in May 2008, was so popular that it sold out early. Therefore, it is no longer available. George Harrison appeared on the three encore songs on this day. George, who had been away from live performances, made a special appearance at Clapton's concert! It was a very rare day. Considering that George & Clapton toured in Japan the following year, it is highly likely that the events here had input something into the minds of Clapton and George. Considering this, we realized that this was a very important record, and decided to offer this sound source to George & Clapton fans again. The original recording must have been a super high quality audience recording, but this time, the master dubbed from the recorder's cassette tape to DAT changed the left and right balance and sound pressure due to the change in the direction of the microphone, so we remastered it to make it easier to listen to by averaging it as much as possible and adjusting the sound quality to expand the range. Even if you have the previous work, you will notice that the sound image and sound quality have been improved and made easier to listen to. [A complete pack of the fulfilling stage in the middle of the world tour with a confident work!] Now let's take a look at the whole picture of the "Journeyman Tour" here. <November 6th, 1989 - "JOURNEYMAN" released> ・January 14th to February 10th, 1990: UK tour including 24 performances at RAH ・February 14th to March 5th, 1990: European tour including Scandinavia ・March 24th, 1990: Appeared on the American live music program "Saturday Night Live" ・March 28th to May 5th, 1990: First leg of the American tour ←★Here★ ・June 6th, 1990: Attended the "Elvis Awards" ceremony at the Armory in New York, and received the "Living Legend Award".・June 30, 1990: Appeared at a charity concert in Knebworth, England ・July 23 to September 2, 1990: Second leg of the American tour ・September 29 to October 21, 1990: South American tour ・November 7 to 19, 1990: Oceania tour ・November 24 to December 13, 1990: Southeast Asia, Japan tour In this way, it was a year of a world tour that was exactly what it was. He seemed to have such confidence in the album that the set list, which included six songs from the album, did not change until the end of the tour. In any case, it was a tour that proved that he "played" from start to finish, and it can be said that it was one of the peaks of Clapton's career. This day was no exception. All the songs were worth listening to, including No Alibis from "Journeyman," which has not been heard in recent live performances, the popular song Bad Love, the grand arrangement of Old Love, i Shot The Sheriff, which showed a solo on a different level from recent ones, White Room, which was nothing short of aggressive, Before You Accuse Me, which had a dynamic composition and performance with a mix of fast and slow tempos, Wonderful Tonight and Layla, which presented the perfect form of live arrangement, and Sunshine Of Your Love, which featured a drum and percussion solo (in the middle solo, Clapton plays a phrase from the standard number Blue Moon for a stylish touch. Did you know that the solo in the original version of Cream was inspired by this song?). In an interview with Clapton around this time, he said, "I feel like my fingers are getting stronger and stronger," and you can confirm this in the first choking of the solo in Bad Love. The Journeyman Tour, which has an unshakable position as one of the most highly acclaimed tours in Clapton's career, had a fixed set list, but the biggest attraction of this tour was the sight of Clapton playing his guitar like a hard rock guitarist. [Big surprise encore!] And as mentioned above, Clapton's old friend George Harrison appeared on the show for three encore songs. At this time, George had not performed live at all because he hated touring, even though his 1987 album "CLOUD NINE" was a big hit after five years and he had returned to the scene, so this incident was very rare. He was probably staying in LA that day, out of all the mansions around the world. And when George found out that his best friend Clapton was having a concert, he felt like he was going to stand on a live stage, which was unusual. The scene where he appears with Clapton had a tremendous cheer from the audience, and even this part alone is enough to make you feel emotional. Although George is not used to playing live, he plays a rare three-chord skill in Instrumental Jam, and is featured in the first half of the second solo in Crossroads (the second half is Phil Palmer from Clapton's band). There is no solo by George in the last number, but he plays a phrase like a finger warm-up in the intro. You can hear his precious playing clearly in these three songs. I can't help but feel that the event on this day was the trigger for the realization of the tour in Japan the following year. George may have thought that if the audience was so happy, he might not be criticized as harshly as he was during the 1974 tour, and Clapton may have thought, "Look, George, you can do it." This work, which revives the sound source of this performance, which was sold out and out of print, with perfect content and quality, is not only the definitive version of this day, but can also be said to have earned a position that can be called the masterpiece of this tour. We can assure you that this title will satisfy both those who already have the released version and those who are paying attention to it for the first time.
