A high-quality digest of the 1995 memorial concert for his friend S.R.V.! A new DAT master has arrived from Taper, a veteran of the UK who is familiar to us for Eric Clapton's treasured sound sources! This new master was recorded in a very clear stereo audience recording of a concert held in Austin, Texas on May 12, 1995 in memory of Clapton's ally blues guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan, who died in an accident on August 26, 1990. A 3-CD complete version has already been released, but the Clapton bootleg evaluation site Geetarz has rated it as "Aud 3" for average audience recording and "Aud 4" for 2CD, which is slightly better than that. However, this time, the heavyweight Taper provided us with a copy of the original digest version on DAT. This is probably the original master of the already released 1CD "The Day After the SRV Tribute", which was highly rated by Geetarz as "Aud 5". Moreover, while it was produced from a cassette master, this work is a DAT master newly copied from the original master by a heavyweight taper, so it can be said that the sound quality is the best ever. The number of songs included is limited to songs in which Clapton participated, but three songs in total, Same Thing, which Clapton backed and featured Robert Cray, Love Struck Baby, and Six Strings Down, which were performed by all stars, are not included. On the other hand, the closing Jam, which was not included in the 2CD, is included, so it is worth collecting for enthusiasts who already have the already released version. The sound quality is exactly the clearest and stereo separated ever. Although four guitarists are participating in the main, Clapton's elegant playing can be immediately heard. This year, Clapton focused on the "Nothin' But the Blues Tour" that had been continuing since the previous year. Let's take a look at where this concert fit into the tour schedule. <NOTHIN' BUT THE BLUES TOUR> 1994 September 28th: Tour rehearsals were filmed at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York. This was later broadcast in the US, Europe and Japan. October 3rd - November 4th: US Arena Tour November 7th - November 28th: US Club Tour I 1995 February 15th - March 7th: UK Tour April 5th - May 5th: European Tour May 11th and 12th: Participated in a memorial concert for the late Stevie Ray Vaughan, held in Austin, Texas. ←★This Video★ August 28th - September 24th: US Arena Tour II October 1st - October 13th: Japan Tour A dream collaboration between famous blues guitarists with ties to S.R.V.! For Clapton, the death of his young son in 1991, the "unplugged" show he took up afterwards, and the subsequent experience led him to once again pursue the spirituality of the blues. This tour was his answer. It can be said that this tour embodied Clapton's stoicism as a "seeker". He participated in this concert immediately after the 1995 European tour, which was in the climax of the tour. It can be said that Clapton's sincere attitude towards the blues was maintained even in this concert, which was a memorial to his ally S.R.V., who could be said to have died for the blues, given the timing. Clapton was featured in Reconsider Baby and Third Degree, which were also included in the set list of the "Nothin' But the Blues Tour", and he showed off his solid and passionate playing. Next, Sweet Home Chicago and I Can't Quit You Baby, featuring Buddy Guy, were played, and you can enjoy Buddy's extreme speed playing and wild playing. Further On Up The Road is Clapton's first performance in two years since 1993, but he shares vocals with Buddy and plays a stable solo. Clapton also features vocals on Let Me Love You Baby, which is connected by a medley, and it is clear that he was treated equally with Buddy. From this point on, we can hear solo performances with Buddy Guy, his compatriot and S.R.V.'s real brother Jimmie Vaughan, and his junior Robert Cray, and in Clapton's specialty Early In The Morning, we can hear a tremendous solo battle with Buddy. This is worth a listen. In I Can't Judge Nobody, you can enjoy the four solos, but since each player is full of individuality, you can also enjoy the difference in the playing nuances with Clapton. Incidentally, the video and audio media of the memorial concert officially released are recordings of the concert on May 11th the day before, and the set list is different from this work, and there are numbers that can only be heard in this work. Enjoy the second day of the S.R.V. Memorial Concert with the best sound quality ever.
