From Eric Clapton's 1977 Japan tour, the new master of the Nagoya City Public Hall performance on September 30th has been released! Speaking of the sound source of this Nagoya performance, the popular song Layla and encore are incompletely recorded, and the opening number was recorded from the middle, and the pitch is about 30 to 50% higher than a semitone throughout, and the peak part is about a semitone. The monaural soundboard source with its high PA output and rough sound quality was famous. Other than this, there are also monaural audience sources with unusually low pitches and average quality, but both were far from satisfying and frustrating. However, this time, we have finally been able to release the most realistic definitive edition that completely records the Nagoya performance with a spacious and clear monaural audience recording. The recording person is the same as "Kyoto Kaikan 1977", but the sound quality of this version is clearer, better balanced, and captured with a powerful sound. Because it was recorded in the front position of Nagoya City Public Hall, a small venue with a capacity of about 2,000 people, you can feel the closeness and realism of the musical tones as if they were recorded in an American club. The master for this disc was also created by receiving a well-kept first generation cassette master directly from the recorder himself, so the sound is extremely fresh. The day of this edition was the first half of the tour, the day after the Kyoto performance, and the fourth performance. As I introduced last week, let's review Clapton's activity history this year again.・February 14th: Performed at a charity concert in his hometown of Cranleigh, Surrey, England (band name: Eddie Earthquake & His Tremors) ・April 20th to 29th: Short-term UK tour ・6 April 4th to 20th: Short-term European tour August 5th: Spot performance in Iviza, Spain August 11th: Continuing to Barcelona performance September 26th to October 7th: Japan tour September 26: Performance at Osaka Festival Hall ・September 27: Performance at Okayama Prefectural Gymnasium ・September 28: Performance at Kyoto Kaikan Daiichi Hall ・September 30: Performance at Nagoya City Public Hall ←★This work★・October 1 Sunday: Osaka Festival Hall Performance October 4th: Sapporo Makomanai Ice Arena Performance October 6th and 7th: Nippon Budokan Performance October 9th and 10th: Hawaii, Honolulu Performance Due to this schedule gap, 5 In April, Clapton recorded his masterpiece ``SLOWHAND'' at Olympic Studios in London, and during this Japan tour, he performed live for the first time songs from his new album ``SLOWHAND'', which had not yet been released. . This was unusual in Clapton's career. The set list for this Nagoya performance was different from that for the Kyoto performance, but in terms of new songs, The Core and We're All The Way, which were the same as the Kyoto performance, were performed. However, the highlights don't stop there. I played Blues With A Feeling, a blues number that was probably featured on the live stage only three times, including this day, in Clapton's career. And again, the play tension with this number is amazing! This song will be medleyed to Stormy Monday with great force. Clapton was in such good shape that day that he decided on such a play in the first half. This is also reflected in Layla's solo in the latter part. This solo is longer and hotter than usual! The twin lead with George Terry has been decided. Furthermore, in the encore solo at Further On Up The Road, there is no longer a reasonable expression. From the 1970s to the 2000s, this number has been played many times as Clapton's favorite major blues song, and there are many great performances (including the co-starring take with Freddie King in 1976 and "The Last Waltz"). It is no exaggeration to say that it probably surpasses all of them (such as co-starring takes with The Band), and it is filled with amazing phrases. I've never heard an encore like this. That's how fulfilling Clapton was on this day. The Kyoto performance that was released at the same time was amazing, but the Nagoya performance was even better. It is easy to imagine that Nagoya was probably the best day of this Japan tour. What we must not forget is the greatness of Clapton's backing band "Tulsa Tops". Karl Radle and Jamie Oldaker support the backbone with a tight rhythm. Dick Sims firmly supports the songs with his organ play that runs more freely than ever before. Their skills are amazing. The following year, when they became a four-piece band, they supported us unwaveringly, and their ability has already been proven here. A new excavation master that achieved the first complete recording with excellent sound quality. In order to make this album more complete, there were cuts between songs, between Nobody Knows You When You're Down And Out and We're All The Way, and between Key To The Highway and Layla. The pitch of the existing sound board master has been successfully corrected and then compensated. This is the perfect Nagoya performance that we are proud to release! Please enjoy yourself.
