The 1987 tour, backed by the Confederates, formed after the release of the classic album "KING OF AMERICA," has long been well-known for its television and radio broadcasts of the Japan tour, but both broadcasts only lasted less than half the actual live performance. However, late last year, a PA-out soundboard recording capturing the Melbourne performance two weeks later was suddenly leaked. Not only is it stereo and high-quality, but it's also significantly longer than the various broadcasts of the Japanese performances. While this amazing PA soundboard recording has shocked Costello enthusiasts worldwide, it also lacks the quality of a recording that could be fully appreciated. Costello's vocal and acoustic segments at the beginning and middle of the concert are severely missing. This suggests that the recording was made to check the Confederates' band sound. This PA soundboard recording is of exceptionally high quality. Fortunately, audience recordings from the same day remain. This also has excellent sound quality. While it doesn't quite match the soundboard, the sound image is large and easy to listen to. However, it does suffer from a high pitch. For this release, the pitch of the AUD was carefully adjusted and the missing parts were filled in. This allows for a complete recording of the live performance! What's more, the editing of the moment when the AUD switches to SBD on "Sally Sue Brown" and "Tokyo Storm Warning" is truly vivid. Not only has this complete recording been achieved, but this superb editing also makes it a stress-free and easy-to-listen-to live album. The main newly excavated PA soundboard produces excellent stereo sound. It maximizes the directness that is characteristic of this type of recording, flowing directly from the ears to the brain. The vividness of James Burton's Telecaster is particularly striking. The Confederates' outstanding performance, featuring a lineup of renowned musicians, can be enjoyed with the stunning clarity that only a PA output can provide. And yet, you can still hear Costello's solo parts, which are full of great songs. In fact, the soundboard recording resumed at the end of "Alison," and the solo version of "Pump It Up," which was shown before that, was also available because it was supplemented with audience recording. This is how the amazing soundboard recording was reborn into a state suitable for release. Even if it wasn't, it's an amazing new excavation soundboard from the "KING OF AMERICA" tour, which is very popular with enthusiasts, and it's also the timing right after the performance in Japan!
