EMERSON, LAKE & POWELL, a super unit that disappeared from the stage after just 11 weeks and 42 performances. Detailed research is progressing due to the short tour, but the best live album still shrouded in “mystery” is back. The "mysterious album" was once released under the title "VINTAGE MASTER." It is an original master given to me by an industry person who was involved in the EL & POWELL tour at the time, but the performance location and date are unknown. There's no mention of it in the master, and even when I visited it when it was given to me, I just said, ``I don't remember it.'' From the set list, I could barely tell that it would be after September 22nd (19th performance), but other than that, the MC never mentioned the name of the place or venue, and the live performance was not known to date. It's completely different compared to the recording. It's a mysterious live where you don't know when or where the live will be. However, if any ``mystery'' has no value, it is no different than a stone on the side of the road. There's no point in revealing it. However, the quality of this work is a shining gem. Speaking of EL & POWELL's pinnacle recordings, "HEADING FOR GLORY" from "Philadelphia performance on September 12, 1986" and "FABULOUS SHOW" from "Mansfield performance on September 16, 1986" are known as the two giants. However, this work is comparable to those two major recordings, and is a hyper sound that can be proudly called the “three major recordings”! In fact, the extremely clear musical tone is like a shining sound board. Although there is a faint reverberation from the venue, even that is transparent, and the sharp edges of Keith Emerson's dancing fingertips, Greg Lake's grinding bass, and Cozy Powell's heavy kick are not lost in the slightest. Not yet. The synths create a spacey worldview, into which the singing voice echoes majestically, and the drums rush forward like a heavy tank. The sound world that only these three people can create spreads out beautifully. Not only is the recording wonderful, but the freshness is also exquisite. Since it is a "mysterious" master, the generation is unknown, but as long as I listen to the sound, I can only think that it is the original master or the 1st generation. The volume changes (slightly) at the beginning of "The Score" as if checking the volume, and there is a tape change cut at 4:27 of "Pictures At An Exhibition", but other than that, there are no flaws at all. There is no distortion or noise, and the sense of stability is excellent. No matter how great the recording is, it cannot easily overcome the test of time of 30 years. However, this work accomplishes that feat admirably. The world of EL & POWELL depicted with such quality is truly the paradise of keyboard trios. Of course, I don't want to say things like ``better than Carl Palmer...'', but this unit is the only ensemble that can push out the unique Emerson music with a strong beat, beat by beat. What's more, Cozy is not just a power hitter; throughout his career, he is so knowledgeable about classical music that he uses Tchaikovsky and Holst themes in his drum solos, and he loves flashy productions. That's why he is good at making things "more dramatic" and "more flashy". It sometimes competes with Emerson's strong-attacking keyboard, and sometimes supports it, making it endlessly dramatic. If Emerson is a jewel that shines in seven colors, Cozy is a powerful spotlight. Emerson himself emits intense light, and by hitting it with it, Emerson is also able to shine brightly! ...I got a little excited and started writing all over the place. very sorry. However, the sound of this work is so beautiful and the performance is so dazzling that I can't stop writing about it. That's what it is. The enthusiasm of the Americans who witnessed such a show was amazing. Although the musical tone is completely in control, the loud cheers that rise there are definitely a reality unique to audience recording. Although Cozy is extremely popular in Japan, it was almost unknown in America at the time. RAINBOW and MSG continued to struggle in America, and WHITESNAKE quit right before their big break. He was known only to core rock fans as a former member of JEFF BECK GROUP. Even with EL & POWELL, at first they were treated like ``Who is this guy?'', but as the tour progressed, the question changed to ``Who is this guy?'' In this work, it seems that such anecdotes have been condensed into one performance, and as the show progresses, you can clearly feel the excitement and surprise of the new EL & P sound. A brilliant, brilliant recording wrapped in a veil of mystery. Both Keith and Koji have passed away, and this sound will never appear again. However, although it was only for 11 weeks, a miraculous unit existed on this earth. And it definitely excited the people who were there. A precious and exquisite record. The intense truth of EL & POWELL was clearly visible because it was only for a moment. Please look back on this masterpiece recording.
