``LIVE REHEARSALS 1986: MASTER TAPE'' is a masterpiece soundboard album where you can listen to tour rehearsals that have been forcibly distorted in the official version. We present to you the audience album of the first day of the tour “August 15, 1986 El Paso performance” which finally started after the rehearsal. It's a bit sudden, but before I get into the interesting content, I'd like to make a small digression related to the rehearsal. This is a 2CD rehearsal sound source, but the recording date, time and location have not been confirmed. According to the official CD's credit, it says "Sprocket Studio, London", but this seems suspicious. That's because, according to a survey by overseas enthusiasts, there doesn't seem to be a studio called "SPROCKET STUDIO" in London. Of course, it may have existed at the time, or there may have been a mistake in the investigation by this maniac, but even so, no materials other than EMERSON, LAKE & POWELL have been found. In the first place, I can't trust the official credit. ``LIVE IN CONCERT'', which was also made official, has long been known as the ``October 4, 1986 Lakeland performance'', and although it has been confirmed from various evidence such as tickets, it is not held as ``November 1986''. It's pretty sloppy that it gets credited. The other is Cozy Powell's diary. He was also a great recorder, and a detailed tour diary from that time has been discovered. According to that... ・July 23, 1986: Entered the United States (Los Angeles) ・July 30, 1986: Promotion in New York ・August 2, 1986: Entered El Paso ・August 3, 1986: Promotion and BBQ ・1986 August 5th: Rehearsal begins (!) August 15th, 1986: El Paso performance (first day of the tour)...And so it goes like this. He seems to have traveled frequently to New Mexico in early August, but is still based in El Paso. In any case, London is far away. In my diary on August 5th, I clearly wrote "We were just about starting rehearsals," and if we had been rehearsing in London before then, there would have been more than two weeks before the last rehearsal. Of course, the possibility is not zero, but the schedule is a bit unconventional. Cozy's diary is quite accurate, and there is a "SPROCKET STUDIO" in El Paso, and perhaps he was rehearsing there...That kind of hypothesis comes to mind. Now, after such a mystery, the first day of this work was performed in El Paso. I thought that the quality that I was interested in was preceded by the preciousness of the first day, but it was a really wonderful audience sound. The solid, deep musical tone is powerful as if it drowns out the audience noise, and has plenty of direct feeling. Even if there is no rarity value on the first day, it is a wonderful live album. On the other hand, the performance carved with that sound is definitely full of rarity on the first day. There are few records in the early stages of the tour, and there are cuts between songs, so it is difficult to say whether the set is completely recorded, but judging from the order of the songs, it is quite different from the middle and later stages of the tour. After “The Score”, “Tarkus” and “Pictures At An Exhibition” suddenly unfold, and the masterpiece “Pirates” is played in the latter half of the show. Surprisingly, they differ in detail. What was even more typical of the first day was the performance itself. There's a stiffness that I haven't gotten used to yet, and I miss touches quite often. I thought that the new member Koji was in danger, but it seems that Keith Emerson and Greg Lake are more dangerous. Compared to Koji, who has always been on stage with various bands, the other two seem to have had long gaps in their performances. Of course, such Emerson & Lake are also battle-hardened strongmen, so as the show progresses, they regain their ability. Such a document is also a fun book. I don't know if the 2CD rehearsal was in London, El Paso, or a completely different place, but this work is the first production because it went through that. This is a live album that vacuum-packs the truth of EL&P, who has finally returned to the stage. The first step in their short live history. This is a great dish that you should definitely enjoy while enjoying the mysteries that still remain. County Coliseum, El Paso, TX. USA 15th August 1986 Disc 1(42:29) 1. The Score 2. Tarkus 3.
