Introducing the finest soundboard album with original cassettes. This work is a stereo soundboard album containing rehearsals prior to EMERSON, LAKE & POWELL's only tour in North America in 1986. Speaking of ``EL&POWELL's tour rehearsal'', there is an official CD ``THE SPROCKET SESSIONS'', and it is the same recording as that. However, although the recording is the same, the content is different. It was made directly into CD from the cassette brought in by the people involved at the time. At the risk of being presumptuous, I have to make a few complaints about official products. “THE SPROCKET SESSIONS” attracted attention as a formalization of the long-known rehearsal sound source, but unfortunately the finished product was sketchy. Because the sound pressure was forcibly raised, the treble was distorted and the extremely emphasized stereo effect was extremely unnatural. I wonder if they wanted to convey the power of...) Editing was even more difficult. It was also a shame that "Step Aside" was cut (included in Greg Lake's compilation album "FROM THE UNDERGROUND VOL.II DEEPER INTO THE MINE"), but there was a fade-in/out process between songs. I was saddened by the fact that I was being singled out. Even though it was a rehearsal without an audience, this was an outrageous act. After all, the masterpiece arrangement that connects the two major songs of “Tarkus / Pictures At An Exhibition”, which was the highlight of the set, in a medley is completely separated, and it is an extremely disappointing song. That's not all. In this rehearsal, the first three songs “The Score”, “Learning To Fly” and “The Miracle” are played continuously with almost no breaks, but they are also faded there. Thanks to that, even the last texture of “The Score” had been erased. The master of this work is completely different from the official CD, which is full of flaws. If you listen to it for a few seconds, it will feel more subdued than the forced official sound, but this is exactly the sound that was roaring in the studio. The freshness is outstanding because the people involved were leaked, and of course there was no forced mastering that would ruin the natural sound. And, in the official version, there are plenty of musical sounds and medleys that are drowned out by fade-ins and outs. On the contrary, even the vivid conversations that took place after each performance were recorded. It is exactly the one where the air of the studio flows freshly from the speaker. Rehearsals carved with that quality do not stop in the middle, and they perform a full live performance without hesitation. As I wrote earlier, the tension is different from the actual live performance, and the solidity of checking the progress is noticeable, but that is precisely why you can listen to the performance that paid attention to every corner of the arrangement. You can fully enjoy the best pleasure of Keith Emerson and Cozy Powell's live performance flowing into your ears with a sound board connected directly to the table. Especially valuable are the new songs such as "The Miracle", "Love Blind", "Step Aside", and the medley of "Tarkus / Pictures At An Exhibition". When it comes to EL & POWELL’s soundboard, “October 4, 1986 Lakeland Performance” is famous, but these songs can’t be heard there either. As for the “Tarkus / Pictures At An Exhibition” medley, it is a unique sound board that does not even have a demo (that is why the official cut was extremely disappointing…). Furthermore, "Mars, The Bringer Of War" is an extremely rare track that cozy enthusiasts should definitely check out. Although it is a song that can be heard in WHITESNAKE's live and studio work "EMERSON, LAKE & POWELL", this work's "Mars" is unique. It's a "band version with live drum solo." To be more specific, WHITESNAKE is backed by an orchestral tape and is not a band performance. EL&POWELL's studio version had a band performance, but there were no solos. During EL&POWELL's actual tour, it was a pokopoko and exciting version that boldly introduced synth drums. On the other hand, this work is a complete version that is a trio performance with Emerson & Lake, but even goes solo with the powerful live drums. In other words, this is an arrangement equivalent to the “OVER THE TOP” version of “1812”, and it is an extremely rare 12 minutes and 20 seconds that cannot be heard even in audience recordings. After rehearsals filled with such rare tracks, we recorded two types of Cozy Tape demos as bonuses. The first is a demo cassette with "SPACE GOSPEL" handwritten by Cozy and featuring three unreleased songs. All of these great songs are unreleased, such as "Hooligan" with Cozy's violent beat, the majestic symphonic "Space Gospel", and the beautiful friendly melody of "Serious Pursuit". Also included are ``Back On The Road (instrumental version of The Score)'' and ``Bites The Bullet (original song by Vacant Possession)''. Temporary melodies such as "La La La" and "Papa Pa" are raw and unfinished versions, but that's why you can listen to plenty of attractive tracks whose harshness has been transformed into a wild charm. The other is a demo cassette containing two songs, "Lay Down Your Guns" and "Learning To Fly." Each is a demo with an instrumental and a song, but this one can be called a preliminary mix that is very close to the final version. Both demos are familiar sound sources, but the sounds that have been digitized directly from the cassette are vivid, and the rawness without any processing is the best. “Lay Down Your Guns”, which felt like a pop song on the official album, has a beautiful melody in this instrumental version. The film ends with a warm yet sad feeling that slowly spreads through your heart. Tour rehearsal and two demos. Both are superb soundboard albums that compile the delicious parts of studio recordings from original cassettes. EMERSON, LAKE & POWELL is a miraculous project that brought together British rock heroes but ended with just one album. Their charm and potential cannot be understood just from the official album... or rather, I think the band's bootlegs conveyed it more accurately. This is a book that conveys the truth of the rehearsal, which was messily finished by the officials, as it is. The musical world of EL&POWELL is robust yet majestic, intimate yet sad. Please spend this weekend immersing yourself in the miraculous world they left behind. Rehearsals at Sprocket Studio for North American Tour 1986 STEREO SBD(from Original Masters) Disc 1(53:39) 1.
