From the European tour immediately after the release of "Tarkus" in 1971, the early performance in Offenbach, Germany on June 10th and the performance in Oldenberg, Germany on the 14th were almost completely recorded from the audience masters that were unearthed in recent years. The Offenbach performance in particular is exceptional as an audience recording of that time, starting with "Pictures at an Exhibition" in an early arrangement, sandwiching "The Barbarian" and moving on to the large-scale song "Tarkus". Keith's piano solo in the latter half of "Take a Pebble" also gives a sense of creativity, and "Rondo" is a long play including a drum solo, but fades out. Furthermore, the Oldenberg performance has a rare development in which Keith Emerson struggles with a Moog synth malfunction from "Tarkus" after a tense and spirited performance from "The Barbarian". Still, it is interesting to note that at this time, the songs were being played at the same speed as the studio version. Also, although "Jeremy Bender" always performed the suite "Tarkus" at the time, this song on the B-side of the album was only performed a few times live, so this is also worth noting. DISC 1 :1.
