“WORKS Tour” marked the end of the greatest keyboard trio in history. The new master piece has been newly discovered. What is infused into this work is “Auckland performance on August 6, 1977”. This is an exquisite audience recording. Speaking of the “WORKS Tour”, it is also famous for the co-starring concert with an orchestra, but most of the shows were also just a trio. The meaning of the record will change completely depending on whether it is a joint performance or not, so first let's look back at the schedule at the time and check the position of the show. 1977《“Tetralogy” released on March 17th》 *May 24th to June 12th: Orchestra co-starring (11 performances + 2 trio performances) June 16th to July 5th: Trio #1 (15 Performances) *July 7th-9th: Orchestra co-starring (MSG 3 performances) July 10th-August 23rd: Trio #2 (34 performances) ←★This work★ *August 26: Orchestral co-starring (Montreal) )・October 15th – November 30th: Trio #3 (35 performances)《“Work No. 2” released on November 1st》1978・January 16th – March 13th: Trio #4 (48 Performance)《Production of ``Love Beach'' → EL&P disbanded》 *Note: Dates marked with an asterisk (*) are performances with an orchestra, and dates marked with a ``・'' are only performed by a trio. This is the 1977/1978 EL&P. There were about 15 performances with the orchestra, most of which were concentrated at the beginning of the tour. After that, the style was repeated several times between trio performances. The Oakland performance of this work was the 19th concert of such "Trio #2". In addition, this show was also known for having one of the best recordings of the tour known to those in the know. That being said, it did not reign as a major standard. Perhaps it was the will of the person who recorded it, but the tape itself is rarely circulated and is only listed on lists of core traders. The sound quality evaluation has sparked rumors and speculation that ``this looks amazing.'' However, no matter how long I wait, the recording is not available. Over time, collectors who were eager to see it began to forget about it, thinking it was just a rumor or something like that, or maybe the date was wrong. And the year is 2021. The day has come when the truth of that rumor will be revealed. The master, which was kept only by a limited number of collectors, has been newly discovered and released with the latest transfer. That is what this work is. The sound is exactly what the rumors say. What's most impressive is the crystal clear air and sharp, detailed edges. As expected, you can't expect it to be so powerful that you can mistake it for a sound board, but you can't mistake the delicate details down to the smallest details. Moreover, there is no sense of distance. Although the tone is engraved with the audience characteristics, even when listening with headphones, you can hardly hear the hall sound component, and the cloudiness does not become muddy. The “Oakland Alameda County Coliseum Arena” that became the scene is supposed to be an indoor stadium, but the sound flowing from this work is as if it were outdoors. As a result, the core reaches the ear without any time lag, and there is no sense of distance. Additionally, the freshness of the master is also amazing. It's not like there are no dubbing marks, but there is almost no distortion or blurring. Each note stretches beautifully, and the edges of the high notes that fly through the air are terrifyingly sharp. What is depicted with such a sound is a mature show in which the "best keyboard trio in history" has matured but has not begun to rot. As has been said many times before, even though the heyday of their activities was until 1974, it was during the "WORKS Tour" that their potential as a performing group reached its peak. The classics, which have become completely flesh and blood, are performed at a frightening tempo, and the group of new songs that fly around in a variety of genres makes the show extremely colorful. The slightly manic ensemble and show performance are the true essence of EL&P in the first place, and it is also a show that embodies its extremes. Also, there is a slightly interesting scene unique to this work called "Knife Edge." The first minute or so is missing the recording, but what is more interesting is after the show. The organ wasn't working well, but the next song was ``Pictures at an Exhibition,'' where the organ plays a big role from the intro. You can also experience how they are trying various things to repair it on the spot with super clear sound. A keyboard has a sharper sound than a guitar and is also excellent at orchestration. To be clear, keyboard trios are all percussion instruments, and they were ideal for rock, which is beat music. However, it did not become mainstream in rock. If I were to make a biased argument, it would be because EL&P, which reached the far north, was so innovative. If you're even slightly influenced by it, you'll be left thinking, ``Ah, that's an imitation of EL&P.'' This work is a new cultural heritage that allows you to experience the ultimate “WORKS Tour” that was the final destination. A music world that explores one of the hidden possibilities of rock. An excellent audience recording of "Auckland, August 6, 1977", which was a trio performance on the WORKS Tour. The new excavation master, which was treasured by core traders, is amazing, above all, with its crystal clear atmosphere, sharp and detailed edges, and delicate details down to the smallest details. Moreover, there is no sense of distance. The hall noise component is hardly perceivable, and cloudiness does not occur. The core reaches the ear without any time lag, and there is no sense of distance. This is a cultural heritage album that allows you to experience the ultimate experience of the WORKS Tour, where the performance power of the greatest keyboard trio in history reached its peak.
