EL&POWELL is a miraculous unit that embodied the ideal of a keyboard trio in the glorious 1980s. The new masterpiece is now available. What is infused into this work is “November 1, 1986 San Diego Performance”. This is an excellent audience recording of a masterpiece that Cozy Powell himself praised as ``9.5 out of 10''. EL&POWELL was a bubbling unit that disappeared after only one album, ``EMERSON, LAKE & POWELL,'' and one US tour, despite boasting miraculous band potential. At our store, we have archived his history with various masterpiece Clive albums. First, let's look back at the schedule at the time and organize the collection. [“EMERSON, LAKE & POWELL” released on May 25th]・August 15th – September 5th (9 performances) *September 9th “BATTLE THEME (New York)” *September 12th “HEADING FOR GLORY” ``Philadelphia)'' September 13th - 19th (4 performances) *September 20th ``MADISON SQUARE GARDEN 1986'' *September 21st ``SIREN SCREAMS (Pittsburgh)'' *September 22nd ``PITTSBURG 1986 2ND NIGHT''・September 23rd - October 2nd (6 performances) *October 4th "DEFINITIVE LAKELAND 1986" *Large standard SBD ・October 5th - 13th (3 performances) *October 14th "DEFINITIVE BOSTON 1986"・October 16: Grand Rapids performance *October 17: "DETROIT 1986" ・October 18-30 (9 performances) *October 31: "HALLOWEEN 1986 (Costa Mesa)" *November 1: San Diego performance ← ★This work★・November 2nd: Phoenix performance *Note: Concerts marked with an asterisk (*) can be enjoyed in our collection. This is the history of EL&POWELL. In addition to this, studio demos and tour rehearsals accompanying album production have been discovered, but that is all for the public US tour. Among these, the San Diego performance of this work is the final stage. It was the second to last concert. This work recorded at such a show is a masterpiece recording with wonderful clarity that makes your heart beat. Although it is not the type that can be mistaken for a sound board in terms of tone, the atmosphere is transparent and the hall sound gives an exquisite dynamism to the core, without hiding details at all. In particular, the treble sounds so good that it feels good and even refreshing. As a matter of fact, this recording has been distributed before, but this work is a new excavation master that is different from that. Previously released groups had been fooling the generation drop with Kinkin mastering, but this work is clear and beautiful even without processing, and the fresh naturalness is even more wonderful. What is depicted with such fresh and clear sound is a full show with a wonderful ensemble created by the miraculous unit. Speaking of EL&POWELL, the FM broadcast of the Lakeland performance reigns as a standard, but that was an incomplete version that was edited according to the broadcast frame (although it has now been made official, it is cut even more than the broadcast) (It was a short edition). This is also a good opportunity, so let's compare and organize them here. EMERSON, LAKE & POWELL・The Score/Learning To Fly/Touch And Go/Mars, The Bringer Of War 70's EL&P・Pirates/Knife Edge/From The Beginning/Lucky Man/Fanfare For The Common Man・Medley: (Tarkus/ Pictures At An Exhibition: ★) (Still… You Turn Me On/Watching Over You: ★) (Karn Evil/America/Rondo) Others・Dream Runner (★)/Creole Dance (★) *Note: “★” marks are A song that cannot be heard on the standard FM soundboard at Lakeland performances. ...and it looks like this. The famous songs that can't be heard on the sound board are delicious, but even more than that is the performance itself. As I mentioned at the beginning, Koji kept a diary every day at the time, and he recorded the performance of each night's show. According to it, the performance on this day was "9.5 points/10 points". What emanates from this work is a passionate performance that confirms that self-evaluation. If you listen to each individual's performance, you will hear a constant flow of tight phrases and silly parts, and when you spread your awareness to the entire ensemble, you will be breathless at the impeccable style. Although it was definitely a foamy unit, it has evolved rapidly during its short history, and the breathability of its final form is wonderful. However, the song "Pirates" makes Koji's self-evaluation questionable. It goes smoothly for about 10 minutes, but at the climax... the keyboard sound suddenly disappears. The performance itself collapses, with only the drums remaining. Apparently there was some equipment trouble, so Keith took over as MC to explain and did a sound check. Only the ending will restart after a while. The troubles didn't last long, and even after restarting, he quickly regained his original tension, but it was still a bit of a bummer. This is the reason why this work cannot be called a ``master performance'' even if it is a ``passionate performance.'' (Perhaps the reason why it gets such a high score even though there are troubles is that from Cozy's point of view, ``It's not my fault.'') How far has the miraculous unit EL&POWELL evolved? This work is a sonic evidence that records the answer. In the first place, it was a band that could not be measured just from the official album, but you can't understand the final point unless you listen to this work. A new discovery with a wonderful listening experience that goes beyond simply being an excellent live album. Exquisite audience recording of "November 1, 1986 San Diego Performance". It is a new excavation master of a younger generation than the previous releases, and the clearness is wonderful. The atmosphere is transparent, and the sound of the hall gives an exquisite dynamism to the core, without hiding any details. In particular, the high notes are pleasantly well-received and even refreshing. There was some equipment trouble during the big song "Pirates," but overall the performance was so enthusiastic that Koji himself wrote in his diary that he gave it a score of "9.5 out of 10." This is a new masterpiece that shows us with clear sound how high the bubble unit has evolved to.
