``THE ASTONISHING'' is a very popular work, and there are already talks of making it into a musical or a game. DREAM THEATER embarked on a complete reproduction tour of the story that lasted more than 2 hours, and this work is a live album from the "February 22, 2016 Amsterdam (Netherlands)" performance, which is the third day. This week, "THE ASTONISHING WORLD PREMIERE" containing memorable world premiere performances will also appear, but while those are the first and second days, this work is the "next" live audience album. . Since it is a live performance that precisely reproduces a blockbuster, the performance content is very similar to the 4-disc set “THE ASTONISHING WORLD PREMIERE”, but the sound is completely different. That one was a masterpiece that showed the individuality of the "usual master" who was particular about the warmth of DAT recording, but this is a superb orthodox audience recording that clearly shows off the power of the latest digital equipment. It's a sound that is more like a challenge to accurately and precisely capture musical sounds, rather than a pack of moving emotions that make the space tremble. The bold musical tones and the direct feeling that approaches you are wonderful. Simply put, it is a type called "just like a sound board." What is especially wonderful is the rich bass dynamism. This time, it's not just the technique of each person, but also the epic story world that matters, so if the bass is weak, even the band's grand excitement will become bland. However, the rich bass dynamics of this work are directly connected to the persuasive power of the story, and it literally makes you tremble. Not only does it sink into your chest, but it also gives you the feeling of "welling up in your stomach." What makes the excitement even more exciting is the audience. They are intently concentrating as they listen to the live performance of a new song they are seeing for the first time, but between songs their concentration turns into loud applause, which serves as the intro to the next song. The loud cheers that erupted and then quickly faded were reminiscent of a performance in Japan in the 1970s. The audience are like readers who read each page of the story, and this brings about unexpected effects. Originally, there was a beautiful flow of a story album, but it seems like the emotions and life of ``empathetic people'' are breathed into it. Not only does my own heart tremble as I face the music, but it also resonates with the hearts of everyone present, giving it an even greater sense of scale. The live show, colored with such sounds, is completely the world of “THE ASTONISHING” from corner to corner. Although it has been talked about in various places, there is no past repertoire. It's like being in a musical or a movie, immersing yourself in the world of a new work. There are many album reproductions and story live performances in rock history, but it is common sense for the encore to be a revelry with representative songs. It is the style of “THE WALL” that breaks that common sense and fills it with new songs until the very end (and it is about an hour longer than “THE WALL” which is about 80 minutes!!). DREAM THEATER not only created an incredible blockbuster, but also enhanced that world even further on stage. This tour, which focuses only on "stories" without past repertoire, is truly worthy of the name "Dream Theater." Even JUDAS PRIEST remains unable to fulfill the dream of completely reproducing the two-disc set "NOSTRADAMUS." IRON MAIDEN also made the two-disc set "THE BOOK OF SOULS" a big hit, and the tour is in the usual style. The spirit of taking on such a big adventure after 27 years since its debut is amazing, but what kind of monster is DREAM THEATER that has managed to capture the hearts of the audience so well? This work is a masterpiece recording that allows you to quickly experience such a masterpiece and dramatic concert with the best sound in rock history. I never thought a rock concert with no famous songs could be so moving. I want to immerse myself in this huge story world as soon as possible. I want to experience it in Japan as soon as possible, even if it's just a minute or a second... Far from quelling those feelings, this is a sinful piece that only makes your heart flutter even more. Please enjoy this gigantic story to the fullest with the audience, who not only give up, but give you warm and enthusiastic applause as the story progresses!
